Gregory seems to be deliberately trying to foster the misimpression that the White House coordinated with Pitney on the specific question that was asked. Listen to what he's saying and how he words it. Axelrod repeatedly informs him that they did not know what was going to be asked but Gregory repeatedly tries to gloss over this and confuse the audience. This has to have been deliberate.

Their was nothing deceitful in the exchange between the President and Pitney. It was very clear and aboveboard that Obama was singling him out, and he specifically picked him for very legitimate reasons which he did not try to hide.

However, the earlier exchanges with Guckert were obvious attempts to surreptitiously introduce politically loaded questions that were in Bush's favor (so politically loaded as to border on idiotic).

10. I agree. It seemed to me obvious that Gregory wasn't acting as

a journalist, but as a propagandist attempting to use baiting questions not to get at the truth, but to generate his version of "truth."

At some point, we need a movement to go after the credentials of these faux "reporters"...including their damned J-school degrees. The profession doesn't need any more clowns.
