If the CIA is behind what's going on in Iran and Honduras, are they operating

rogue or under the direction of the Obama administation? A lot of DUers believe the CIA is responsible for both the Iranian post-election unrest/protests and the coup in Honduras. If that's true, is Obama the chief culprit or the chief dupe?

It's all a massive conspiracy, apparently, because nothing ever happens without the US causing it in the world (unless if it's good).

It seems like nothing happens in this world without someone claiming that the CIA made it happen.

I know they have a reputation, and are capable of much more than we know, but how much control do hey actually have?

They meddle in just about everything that happens politically on the American Continent, especially when it involves coups and unseating democratically elected officials who are in any way anti US. For example, who supplies weapons, aircraft and teaches torture methods in the School of the Americas also known as Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation? Why, it's the CIA or another agency of the US government.

4. Have you read "The CIA and the Cult of Intelligence" by Victor Marchetti

It was written by a former agent in 1974, and is the only book ever subjected to pre-publication censorship by the CIA. The publishers were pissed off and indicated where all the cuts were. Yet even the material that survived the cuts is plenty damning.

Read the book--it should still be available in libraries--and see what the CIA is capable of and then guess what was in those literally pages and pages of redacted material.

5. Isn't cheney Still In Charge?

I read someone claiming that the other day. Re Iran...if we had operatives looking to upset things, wouldn't they have been hard at work creating an incident for the U.S. to attack?

This is kinda like the mystique about Rove...how all powerful he was...everything that happened surely had to be his doing and nothing we could do about it.

As others have pointed out, if the CIA is involved, they always leave fingerprints that are pretty easy to detect. In Honduras, I'll raise red flags when I see former rep Jerry Weller listed as one of their new leaders...
