3. I don't have TV, but reading the newspaper (local craprag owned by the NYT)
bums me out, yes. The other day I just glanced over the front page, and the word "dead" came to mind. Dead news. Same old thing. Said the same old way. With the same old headline manipulations and the same old fascist/corporate slant. Dead opinion. The same old faces. They must look like geezers by now, 115 years old, but their photos from 75 years ago head their columns. Same old views. Shilling for the corporate rulers, whether from the "liberal" or "conservative" slant, which are the same old meaningless words. There is no life in this thing that arrives at my door each morning. No liveliness. No democracy. No creativity. No outrageousness. No alternative views. Everything sounds the same: academic-style blah-blah and pablum. The War/Corporate Democrats will profit from the rumble in the country about the war, and will put a War/Corporate Democrat in the White House, then we will have more of the same old thing. The poor get poorer, and go off to the Middle East to die. The rich get richer. The rest of us slowly slip into poverty and bankruptcy, supporting all these fatcats in their profligate lifestyles, politicians included. The planet, already in its death throes, will expire, and that will be the end of the great human enterprise. But what do these craprag writers care? They have salary and benefits in the meantime.

Dead.
Dead.
Dead.

That's what I think of war profiteering corporate monopoly "news."

But I don't let it get me down. It just astonishes me that it's so...dead. At DU, I see a lively, creative democracy happening. I believe in democracy. I think the American people are alive and awake--and have been since before the war, when 56% opposed it! So, we're creating our own news and opinion, bypassing that deadness in the fascist media. And I think we will win--we will get our country back; indeed, we are re-inventing our country and its democratic ideals--and the fascist media will eventually have their news monopolies busted up, and a new and REAL 'fourth estate" will emerge, from the ferment and creativity in the net- and grass-roots.

8. TTDB RULES.
My favorite political comic strip. And on off days, the "Super Fun Pak Comix" he does, where he satirizes the modern cliched comics.
