Liberals push to impeach Bush
Source: Washington Times (sorry)

Congressional Democrats say their constituents are clamoring for something even the most liberal lawmakers promise they won't pursue: President Bush's impeachment.

"I get one call after another saying, 'Impeach the president,' " said Rep. John P. Murtha, Pennsylvania Democrat and one of Mr. Bush's most relentless critics on the Iraq war.

"It's a simple process but a very divisive thing," Mr. Murtha said. "You've got to measure what it's going to do to the country, and at this point I don't see that happening. Instead we'll fight it out on the issues."

Some members speculated that the Democratic takeover of Congress and passage of Iraq withdrawal timetables in both the House and Senate have emboldened liberals across the country who want to see the president embarrassed during his final 21 months in office.

Bill of Rights. Embarassment is too kind for the moron in the White House--and for his handler, Dick Cheney.

How about "the disgusted masses" push? That's what I'm hearing in Houston, from liberals, libertarians, 'Licans, layabouts, and luddites alike.

6. "Embarrassed?" They think this is about "embarrasing" Bush?
It's about justice. It's about sending a signal to all future presidents that we don't tolerate bloodthirsty, lying traitors using our family and friends in uniform to slaughter hundreds of thousands of innocent people in a foreign land for no goddamned good reason. It's about the future of this nation, and our respect in the world, and about doing the right thing. You don't send a murderer or child killer to jail to embarrass him, you don't wait until he dies of a drug overdose to get rid of him. You take him off the streets, you put him in prison for as long as you possibly can, and you go have a beer, feeling like you've done a good deed for the world.

"Embarrassing" him makes it sound like he insulted our shoes or something.

25. I doubt it is possible to 'embarrass' George Bush.
His mindset will not allow for such a thing to happen.

I don't give a flying BFD about 'embarrassing' him.
He IS an embarrassment to his party, the country, and our species.
Getting him out of office, and trying him for war crimes, treason, etc. is a whole 'nother story.
:grr:

7. Look at all the propaganda buzz words in the opinion piece.
This really is not LBN. Just a push piece to try and tamp down impeachment talk.

12. Look at the source, it's a conservative hit mag that used to praise Pinochet.
Of course it's Repub propaganda, although it looks like maybe even the Reverend Moon is upset with W. Probably can't handle another person believing he's Jesus Christ.

8. I resent the Moonie Times' implication
that it's strictly 'liberals' who are calling for The Giggling Murderer's impeachment. I'd bet good money that a large proportion of the calls Jack Murtha is receiving are from otherwise apolitical, middle-of-the-road people who would rather get on their lives without having to tell Congress what needs desperately to be done. Some of his constituents who are now clamoring for impeachment may well be active conservatives, for that matter.

11. It's called damage control

embarrass him? Is that possible? And Cheney digging for responses to his
jokes about running? These people have no conscience. Impeach both of
them and let Nancy and our congress work to resolve (fix) things.

impeachment. It's AMERICANS. And JUSTICE DEMANDS IT!

By the way, it's not your option to impeach or not impeach. It's a constitutional mandate that Congress impeach the President, Vice President, etc., if they've committed high crimes and misdemeanors.

Treason.

Traitor.

Lying to the American people.

An illegal war.

Outing a COVERT CIA agent during a time of war.

Spying on us.

Rampant cronyism.

Lobbyists writing legislation in their favor, to the harm of the public.

3,250+ dead troops.

What is it going to take, Rep. Murtha?

17. Better than impeachment
although I would love to see him impeached, is what is now unfolding in Ohio. If they count the votes, determine that he didn't win, (which most everyone here already knows), then he will be seen as even more irrelevant than he already is. This will be even more fun to watch.

18. We want him impeached for massive, impeachable offenses!
Violations of the Constituion and federal law, and all that jazz.

If we wanted to embarrass him, we'd let hime give some more speeches in front of the troops. Especially at Ft. Irwin.

24. This is not about EMBARASSMENT, it's about JUSTICE. It's about saving
our democracy, cherishing our Constitution, and returning to some semblance of government of, by and for The People.
This shameless fuckers are SO FAR BEYOND impeachable offenses; I'd be happier to see them tried for treason and war crimes, because they deserve to be brought up on charges for both.

Embarassment, my ass. Impeachment is too good for these unelected liars and killers and thieves.
