Joe said that Sanford cannot have a future in politics for the next "few years" and the panel agreed that he kind of rambled and it was akward. And of course, they "gave him credit" for not "dragging his wife up there", as if that's anything he should be getting credit for. Joe made the obligatory snotty reference to "people on cable news shows taking delight in other people's pain" and "people on cable news shows who themselves have NO PLACE to be mocking other people"...reference to Keith Olbermann/Jon Stewart probably.

From what I understand his wife found out about his affair a couple of weeks ago and kicked him out so the only way his wife would have been up there is if he dragged her kicking and screaming. Which probably wouldn't have helped his situation any.

8. for those people who have the restraint not to watch Morning Joe

Joe got a little angry. I post on another Morning Joe board with other fools who hate that show, and we were all predicting what he would say this morning. What he just said was scarily close to exactly what I predicted he would say. Here's a recap of his little spat, cross posted from what I posted on the other board.

"Joe seemed to get a bit angrier later. It's kind of scary what I predicted above. He used the word "glee", as predicted" to describe the way some people on cable news shows were reacting "some on this network..." (gee, who could you be talking about Joe?) and refered Jim and Tammy Fae Baker of cable news (???). Did the "SEEEE, I don't want to talk to Elliott Spitzer about HISSSS affair when he comes on our show!", as predicted, to boost his "restrained" credentials. Willie, to his credit, brought up that many people take issue with the hypocrisy of people who made such a big deal over the Bill Clinton affair to be caught in a similar situation now. Joe snapped "YES. AND THAT APPLIES to people who have CABLE NEWS SHOW. PEOPLE on cable news shows who LIVE IN GLASS HOUSES. Should I name NAMES!?" And Mika, of course, went off into her shtick about the "liberal media" and how there is a double standard for Republicans and Democrats who have affairs, because "Democrats have gotten away with it". Of course, the only name she mentions is Bill Clinton, and she referenced "risking the White House for that", while Sanford is "in love", so it's different (oh puke). No mention of NEWT by the crew, who cheated on his dying wife and now also makes oodles on the speech circuit, with nary a mention from the media about his affair.

I'm just not buying the whole "he's OBVIOUSLY in LOVE!" thing that everyone on Morning Joe is doing. Sure, could be, but lots of people who have affairs fall in love. And as the column they read mentioned, the bigger thing is that he left the state without telling anyone to tend to said affair. And Mike Barnicle especially (and Joe of course, as a Republican congressman) was someone who made such a big deal of the Bill Clinton thing (and also, John Edwards), so I find the whole "I just don't want to be in a place of judgement" thing to be dumb. I agree with Willie, it's more the hypocrisy than anyone caring about him having a dumb affair."

He basically said it outright. And Mike Barnicle wants to get out of the judgement business? He passed judgement over Clinton everyday the man was in office. He even blamed the Columbine shootings on Clinton's lack of moral leadership.

someone also mentioned that he's prob referencing Ed Shultz too, who seemed pretty gleeful yesterday. I didn't think of that, but yeah, he always passively aggressively mentioned Keith Olbermann but doesn't have the guts to call him out. I wish he would, I would love to see Rachel and Keith call Joe out sometimes. Instead, Rachel defends Joe storming off set after she pawned him by saying that he has "long hours", because she's a nice person.

I was thinking the same thing when I watched the show this morning.
I could see Scar seething and being all snarky as usual when he was dissing hosts on MSNBC's night shows.
I thought he was actually going to name names.
When he kept using the word "Glee" I thought of the Ed Schultz show when the RePuke operative accused Ed of "Glee" over Sanford's predicament. They have their RePuke talking points.
I think one reference might have been to big Ed.
He had him on the show as a guest last week and Ed said he believed Darth would welcome another attack to score poitical points. Scar and Mika fucking freaked out but Ed wouldn't back down.
I could see the loathing in Scar's eyes right there and then.
I doubt Ed will ever be invited back! :
