Wikipedia has Sanford resigning as Governor.
"Marshall Clement "Mark" Sanford, Jr. (born May 28, 1960) is an American, Republican politician who had been Governor of South Carolina since 2003 until 24 June 2009, when he resigned."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Sanford

News to me (no pun intended...) - is this a premature conclusion??? (groan....)

5. He has to resign ........
I think this one is far more comprehensive than we know right now.

The old iceberg thing.

He knew her for eight years?

Oh, good. That's a real comfort to his wife. They were friends.

In some ways, that's a bigger betrayal than the sex....................

15. You know the more I think about it
the more I believe wifey or her dad sent those anonymous emails to The State.
Copy on jump drive and send from a nice anonymous place. My only question is why he would use Governor Sanford and not his name from a home computer.

16. OR,
someone on his staff who knew about the affair - a really righteous professional Christian - and decided to hammer him.

I mean, it's like rightwing Christians are tolerant of human failings, or anything like that.

Copy? You can just forward them to a Yahoo account, and then access that account at a library or a Kinko's.

But, what if they're fakes? That "Governor Sanford" thing is tricky, but the account might have been set up for him by a minion, who would use that appellation, no?

You know, it just occurred to me that the biggest failing the GOPigs are experiencing right now is that they have absolutely NO grasp of how the world has changed because of the Internet(s) tubes. How nothing is ever lost, and everything can always be called up.

They just don't understand.

I think they're going to be underwater until at least 2016, until a new generation catches on and gets established......................

17. The State said that while they
redacted her name and address from the emails, they had checked them out thoroughly and it was her address.

Yes it's possible that a Fundie insider sent them but the apology to the Father in law suggests that he's in the middle of this - remember he's the bankroll and you know those old rich white men can destroy you in the blink of an eye - and he's from Florida to boot. :D

I agree with you 100% re their ignorance about the Internet. This fugger is naive.

Can't wait for Jon Stewart.

I thought Sanford had made a bundle in real estate on his own.

He's got an MBA from U of VA, a very good school.

So, what's the old man's money from?

On edit:

She's from Winnetka, IL? Her grandfather founded Skil Coporation. The power tools people.

Winnetka is one very, very wealthy Chicago suburb, and Skil - oh, serious, serious bucks there.

Sanford SO fucked it up ...............................

7. It's been corrected
Somebody is vandalising the page. There's no indication he has resigned. All citations do not confirm the allegation.

10. they are confused
Sanford resigned as head of the National Governor's Association (he figures that is punishment enough for abandoning his State without designating Lt. Gov. in charge). Wonder if SC will feel the same way.

11. Probably confused.
He didn't resign as Gov (although he SHOULD have), but he did resign as the chairman of the Republican Governors' Assoc.

12. Apparently there are term limits in SC, so he can't run again anyway.
Whether he'll resign or not.... nah, I doubt it. He's already established his hypocrisy. Why stop now?
