Remember, that everyone thought the idiot son didn't have an icicle's chance in fucking hell in 2000 and look where that got us. Just sayin, you're all a little smug about this, but this is the ticket that keeps me up at night.

3. Why does Sarah Palin bother you so much?
Sarah Palin has a history with the Internet--and it's not a good one. It has all her fuckups, missteps, and every sordid recording of her horrible white-trash tabloid's-wet-dream family stored in its big metal brains.

She shouldn't scare you. She's an idiot and she'd never even make it out of the Republican primaries.

11. You're stupid not to be scared
All of the internet crap will be old news by 2012. And she's got the support of many, many republicans.

Trust me, it will happen.

14. I seriously hope that it does.
And I want her to keep her fuck ups at a moderate level until then so it's more likely to happen. I'll take our chances against Caribou Barbie any day. Stupid isn't something that goes away with her, it's an indelible stain. She's not going to be any more prepared come 2012, I eagerly await her fuckwitted campaign.

18. No, I'm not.
I'm not scared of Sarah Palin and I'm really beginning to wonder why you're so petrified of her.

And it most certainly will not be old news, because I guarantee you four years will make no difference--she'll still be an idiot in 2012 and the Internet never forgets.

in addition to all those who vote with their other head.

15. "She's an idiot and she'd never even make it out of the Republican primaries."
She'd likely win the primaries. It's the Junior Bush formula. She's "just like one of us.... what we need is a President with common sense... not a bunch of ivory tower learning. She hunts and fishes like us and the fact she kept that baby proves she's not just a 'Sunday Christian.'" That's a composite of pro-Palin rhetoric I've seen down in Freeperville.

21. She'd need more than Freeper support to win, just like Democrats
need more than people like us to win.

And those who aren't Freeper types are either scared to death of her lack of brains or just plain don't like her.

25. 2012 will be a referendum on Obama's first four years
Palin and Newt will appeal to those who either didn't like Obama to begin with or who have decided they don't like change.

If they were smart, they'd run a more centrist ticket, like Kay Bailey Hutchison and Charlie Crist. That ticket, however, fails the ideological purity test.

26. And there's the reason a Palin ticket won't win.
Assuming she gets out of the primaries--which is no sure thing, given how vicious Republicans are to each other when primary time rolls around--she'd be clobbered in the general.

Obama would have to be caught in a dead girl/live boy scenario to lose to her.

24. I dunno.
I heard him in 2004 at the DNC and said to myself (as I'm sure millions of others did as well) "This guy's gonna be President someday."

I just didn't think it'd happen in 2008.

5. The threat of Gingrich playing Cheney to Palin's Bush Jr will scare enough voters away
Particularly when we point out that they can say hello to their health care reform and hello to a draft!

Palin has no support outside of the lunatic fringe of the GOP.

9. Newtacuda!
I don't know, however, why you said Junior didn't have a chance; most I knew had him pegged as the next Prez in '98.

I'm not smug about the ticket at all, but the GOP will have the same demographic swim against the current that they had in 2008. Also, Palin will have to really polish her speaking skills. That said, she's thoroughly vetted at this point, and very popular with a certain segment of their base. Also, what I think of as the neo-Libertarian segment of their party (a solid 10% of their base) won't be terribly enchanted with that ticket.

12. Newt as Palin's VP would be an exact duplicate of Cheney/Bush
The older, smarter one as the man behind the screen and the nitwit as the floating illusion, the Great Oz.

I highly doubt that the Repubs want to go for a replay on that one. Not to mention that Newt's vanity would never allow this. He clearly considers her a real lightweight.

BUT, I feel pretty sure they will go for a woman, it just won't be Palin.

they value Newt the man, they don't want him anywhere near the GOP nomination because of the sheer volume of skeletons in his closet.

Surely? Won't the Rs just field some old white dude with good hair instead?

They'll go with a boring guy who nobody is particularly excited about like they did in 1996 (Romney or Pawlenty). If Palin is the nominee, great...Obama will have a huge victory.

34. It's quite possible...
and one of the reasons I've been opposed to Palin bashing on the media.

The time for more Palin jokes is when and if she does run again. Right now the jokes garner sympathy for her.

Far better to ignore her and let her fade away to become merely an interesting and humorous side note to an election. She's had her 15 minutes of fame and more.
