Red text rollover.
I'm getting random red text when I roll over it, and it's not a link (with Firefox but not IE).

Anybody else?

12. Yes, when folks cut'n'paste a bracketed 'A' ("[A]") from a news story ...
... it causes that "red-on-rollover" effect.

14. Awwww, You Told!

Just typing an a or an A between brackets before the text makes it red on rollover...

I viewed the source code for that marijuana article and found the culprit...

15. It's fairly common for news stories to make quotes more readable using '[A]' or '[An]' ...
Edited on Wed Jun-24-09 03:55 PM by TahitiNut
... indefinite articles within brackets to indicate they're not part of the actual quote. When DUers cut'n'paste the text from news stories without editing the bracketed items, all kinds of "unintended consequences" can arise. The bracketed item often gets converted to the corresponding HTML by the DU software. This is just one of the minor ones.

7. I've had it happen to me...............

the quote from the article in this thread does it:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x5877153

My guess is that the quote was cut-n-pasted from the online article. Maybe it has something to do with the way the source material is encoded? I'm just guessing here.

8. Yes, Once
here at DU
I think it may have been some messed up code
that made foxfire think the text (it) was part of a link
without actually being click-able to the link?
