Poor Gonzo - canceled family vacation to prepare for Senate hearing

http://www.cnn.com/POLITICS/blogs/politicalticker/2007/04/gonzales-prepares.html

<snip>

How well Gonzales performs during the testimony may determine whether he keeps his job, political observers say.

Gonzales canceled plans for a family vacation to focus on the preparations, which resemble what a Cabinet nominee does before a confirmation hearing, officials said.

1. If he planned to tell the truth, he would not need to take all this time.
Nice "Family Values" Gonzo.

8. At his hearing, a Senator should ask him...........
"How much time and effort did you spend on being coached to come here and simply tell the truth!"
Bring it up at the hearing that everybody knows he is shaking in his boots.

9. The attorney general of all Americans has to spend all this time in training
on how to give testimony?

The big cheese meatball attorney. No attorney ranks higher than this one.

Needs to cram in order to learn how to testify.

And the story is put in the news as if it were no big deal.

10. From an earlier report, Gonzales is meeting with Ed Gillespie
Oddly enough, one of the problems with Mr. Gonzales' running of the Justice Department is that he's made his office too political. And so in order to clear up that perception, Mr. Gonzales is meeting with the former chairman of the Republican National Committee. Reasonable people might wonder what particular expertise a professional political adviser like Mr. Gillespie will bring to Mr. Gonzales' preparations.

Cynical folks -- of whom there are none here at DU, thank Cthulu -- might say that this is the equivalent of an accused mobster meeting with Don Corleone just before his committee hearing. It completely contradicts the impression he's trying to give.
