Hasset will never win a plagiarism suit against Hasselbeck, but the publicity
about her claim can only be good for bringing attention to Hasselbeck's book and to Celiac disease and gluten intolerance.

Eventually, foods will be labeled to show whether they contain gluten, and it will be easier for find gluten-free-friendly restaurants when I travel.

Thank you Hasselbeck, Hasset, and anyone else who brings publicity to the cause!

1. That's my take too, based solely on my reading of the complaint.
If you are claiming that someone copied your work "word for word" and are only able to cough up two "word for word" phrases ("What is celiac disease?" and "Rome wasn't built in a day") in the entire book, it's a weak argument.

Many other countries already do this. I don't understand why US has not gotten off the dime on it.

2. It took U.S. doctors about 10 years to realize that if gluten-intolerance and
Celiac disease were common in Europe, then they'd be common among descendants of Europeans, too.

But now, it's the food manufacturers that are fighting it. That's why gluten was left off the list of items that were required to be labeled, like wheat and corn. They said it required more "study." The true reason is that so many foods contain added gluten, and they don't WANT to label it.

3. Yep. They're going to have to get their asses over to Europe, and learn how it's done. NT

4. I agree
Unless she can come up with more, or there are other things they aren't printing, the whole thing sounds really weak.
And good luck on getting the word out. Maybe it will help.
