Yzerman, Hull lead 2009 Hall class
I know how DEEPLY despised my beloved DU treats sports, but the NHL Hall of Fame class was announced today, and some well-deserved candidates went in, including Steve Yzerman, a class act in Detroit on the level of respect of Al Kaline - high praise indeed.

Whatever. They bring much to our lives, whether Ali against the war, or Phil missing out again this weekend, or Al Kaline being a substitute role model who never let me down for this guy who grew up without a Dad. This will likely be moved (sports is verboten here), but congrats to these deserving recipients, and especially Steve Yzerman. Class act from the time he was a teen to now. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=4281507

2. Hull goes in wearing a Blues uniform and Luc goes in wearing the Kings uniform.
YZERMAN, was a joy to watch.

6. And they both were Wings at one time, and both deeply deserve this honor.
I just adored Bobby Hull. Still the greatest slashing scorer I ever saw.

I put him up there with his peer, Gale Sayers. Wow.

3. He will always be The Captain to me
Not that I don't respect and admire Lidstrom. I do, and Crosby treated him shabbily. I'm glad Lidstrom got the job, but to me, Stevie Y. is The Captain. I don't even like it when people on OTHER teams wear the number 19.

7. I remember Olympia, and Howe/Lindsay, and yet Yzerman will always be captain, too.
Kind of like his peer, Alan Trammell.

God, I love Detroit.

Leetch, Yzerman, Hull, Robitaille and Lamoriello. Cheers to them.
