Which do you think is the most dangerous branch of military right now?
I'm having a conversation with someone on if you had to enlist in one branch what would it be. I said the navy (but I don't know all that much about the different functions they do)

4. I was just going to post the same exact thing
Our military is only as dangerous as what the leaders in charge make them.

7. Oh.... trust me I agree with you, but if you HAD to
This conversation came out of having to comfort someone whose husband is shipping off with the Navy (1st tour remarkably) and I was just trying to think of anything reassuring.

19. Just got off the phone with the governors office about this one...
Keep Blackwater the fuck out of Ohio, and out of the US for that matter.

3. There are Navy and Air Force members being tough to shot and
drive truck...

IMHO under Bush and the military's shortages there are NO safe branches...

6. If you consider
a shooting war with Iran it would be the navy. There will probably be several hundred if not thousands of navy dead in that case.
If you just consider the Iraq conflict it is a tie between the army and marines. Both are losing quite heavily.

8. I would say the army
followed by the marines. The navy, it depends on your mos, many navy personnel have lost their life in Iraq. If one had to join the military, I'd say the air force would be the safest.

15. wing waxers
AS a former gravel agitator Army infantry RVN 1966-67 I'd agree, wing waxers are the epitome of the REMF(ask another vet) in the rear with the gear sort of job.

10. Blackwater and other Contracting Civilian Mercenaries
They are NOT bound by the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

They're out there (100,00+ strong) and are FREE to go tear assing around Iraq ... doing ANYTHING without fear of legal reprisal. :scared:

11. The PRIVATIZED military that works for corporations loyal only to BushInc.
Edited on Fri Apr-06-07 10:29 AM by blm
Just as Cheney intended when he first started privatizing parts of the military in 1991. Clinton should have stopped it when he took office. Now, the private militaries are stronger than many divisions of the nation's military and better protected.

12. To our civil liberties? All of them.
The entire US armed forces should be disbanded immediately. It is a huge lawless and out of control threat to global peace.

22. Thank you
but I'm serious. I'd love to see the US reduce its military to the national guard and the coast guard. It only has a huge standing army to impose its global will. Since... um 1945... that army has basically only been used for outright evil (with few exceptions).

17. The idiots in suits
I was in the Army, so I'm a bit partial to that.

Basically, as we used to say, the best rank to have in any branch of the service is PFC (proud fucking civilian).

18. The First Guy I Saw Get Killed In Viet Nam Was Air Force
Poor bastard, he was a weather guy, out at a Firebase. Got hit by schrapnel from a mortor. Dam shame.

That said though, more guys in the Army get killed than any other branch but probably fewer as a percentage of forces. Probably the Marines that get killed at the highest rate.
