Hasselbeck Accused of No Original Thoughts
Elisabeth Hasselbeck ripped off a woman by plagiarizing her disease material -- so claims Susan Hassett, who fired off a letter to "The View" host just before suing her.

We obtained the letter -- in which Susan claims she sent Elisabeth a book called "Living with Celiac Disease" back in April of '08. Thirteen months later, Susan says Hasselbeck published the same book with a new title: "The G Free Diet-A Gluten Free Survival Guide." Yes, the title sucks.

Susan compares chapters and lines. Here are some highlights.

Susan's Book Chapter 1: What is Celiac Disease?
Hasselbeck Chapter 2: What is Celiac Disease?

Susan's tips: "Shop in the outer isles of the supermarket."
Hasselbeck's tips: "Food in the outer isles of the supermarket."

And the comparisons go on and on.

Susan just sued Elisabeth for copyright infringement and plagiarism.

6. Not to defend littebit...
Edited on Tue Jun-23-09 01:08 PM by SidDithers
but if you're going to write a book about Gluten-free dieting, it makes sense to have a chapter called "What is Celiac Disease".

And "Shop in the outside aisles" is advice that most nutritionists give. That's where the fresh fruit and veggies, meats and dairy usually are, with processed foods in the middle aisles.

Now if both twit and Hasset both continually misspell "isle", perhaps that would be evidence of plagiarizing.

Sid (whose daughter is a Celiac kid)

Edit: I've got probably a dozen books about Celiac disease and GF cooking, and they're basically all the same.

14. yes there IS no original book about this
I don't like her at all, but these two examples are not good ones of why the woman thinks her book was ripped off. There would have to be much, much more for me to be convinced.
