George W. Bush's belief in God
I had a talk with my mom this morning. She said I cannot forget God and she said "the devil is in back back of those who kill."

I have doubt about George W. Bush's "Christianity" and I was offended when not long ago he said that "God told me to strike at Iraq", that's the reason I did not read the bible anymore nor believe in God. But I tried to renew my faith, due to the financial trouble my family is suffering from right now.

Bush lied to the nation into an illegal and immoral invasion and occupation using God as an excuse. Do you think that Bush is a "real" Christian, or just a hypocrite? And do I still need to hold on to my own faith in God?

5. I'll not render a judgment on what Bush may believe
Certainly, his actions are condemnatory enough that his belief system doesn't matter.

And though you didn't ask, I'll proffer a little free advice (and worth every penny): it shouldn't matter to you, either. If you want to renew your faith, renew your faith. That is, if your faith is going to be rooted in God, then whatever Mr. Bush does is immaterial to that relationship. Check around your area for a church, congregation, or other gathering that is more consonant with your beliefs. I strongly suggest a fellowship where answers are sought, rather than given.

6. When he said he seeked his higher father when making the decision to go to war,I immediately
thought that higher father was Satan...and I don't believe in Satan, but I believe that he does.

8. he may sincerely believe he is a Christian
but I can't help thinking of that phrase from the New Testament, you will know them by their fruits. It's bitter fruit this Bush brings forth.

11. George is only a Christian when it is to his advantage...
as are many of the others in his administration. They don't even know the meaning of Christianity, nor do they know nor follow the Ten Commandments....obviously.

The King and his administration are like so many evangelists who thrive under the adulation of their congregations and line their pockets with gold as though they truly deserved it. They are the type that can look you straight in the eye and lie to their heart's content. Always remember they are, at the same time, laughing at your stupidity for falling for those lies. They know what they SHOULD be doing, but what they should be doing is not profitable nor titillating.

Translated: manipulating the peons is how they get their jollies.

12. I still think his "god" and "higher father" is Sun Myung Moon
because that would explain so much about his arrogance, his violence, his disregard for the laws of man and god, and his contempt for the constitution he swore to uphold.

Moon is a conman turned cult leader and fascist determined to achieve world domination, no matter what it takes. He's also been in bed with the Bush family for decades.

The whole thing just makes me sick to my stomach.

14. This belongs in the religion forum
For what its worth I think Bush's particular branch of Christianity is heartfelt, but largely because it lets him of the hook for the bad stuff he has done while letting him judge the bad stuff that other people do.

But that's just speculation; what do I know?

16. I don't believe in a god but you have to do what is best for you.
I don't believe that the Christian religion is all about Jesus either it is more all about Paul.

If it helps you to seek God's help or to believe in God to get you through life then you should.

If you have the strength to work through difficulties on your own and/or support of others then don't worry about not having faith in God.

Personally, I accept what I can't control and do what I can about the things I do control.

17. Many Politicians like to call themselves Christian so they can get the Christian vote,
and will even make a few concessions to do so. But people like Gorge Bush are nothing more than snake oil salesmen that say what the people want to hear more than anything. If any thing he is an inept wolf in sheep’s clothing, and an evil greedy glutton of power. He knows more about corporate theology than Christian theology. He is a warmongering lying thief with out any conscience… absolutely not a Christian.

19. I have many issues with Bush and his (ab)use of Christianity
to get votes and shore up support for his seemingly insane policies. For me to go into detail about how I feel about this would probably take days, but I think Bob Dylan summed it up pretty well in this song.
