People, I'm all out of tears and have been for a while now.
Edited on Fri Apr-06-07 10:32 AM by Skidmore
I was thinking this morning about how many times over the past few years I've wept, sometimes sobbed, for what has come to pass in this nation. The lead up to the war, the war itself, the rise of the propaganda machine and Homeland security, the increase in poverty and hunger, Katrina...my Lord...Katrina (left a hole in my heart), the corruption and election fraud, the maimed and dead, Walter Reed and the VA hospitals, just plain citizens dying or suffering needlessly without adequate health care, the plundering and exploitation of labor. Salty tears of sorrow and hot tears of frustration. I've spoken to representative and senate office personnel with tears in my voice and have sent off missives typed out through a blur of tears.

I know there many here who have done the same these past few years. And I hope you all are where I am now. I will shed no more tears. Those tears have crystalized into glowing white-hot shimmering anger. No more. I want to drive these warmongers into the earth. I want to see this rightwing bunch of traitors become the scorn of generations to come so that future citizens will speak only in derisive terms of this Republic administration and party.

AND while I'm at it, Lord help the Democratic politician who can't quite bring himself or herself to pitch in to do the work or to speak differently. To hell with the money and sound bites. I will work against that person as quickly as any Republic. NO MORE LIEBERMANS!

Let us deal in truth and and let commonsense and decency be the coin of the land. We don't have time for tears. I set my foot down and say, "NO!!" A resounding "NO!" to perpetuating any vestiges of corruption for any reason. "NO" to war! "NO" to suffering and poverty! "NO" to prejudice! "NO!" to ignorance and injustice! "NO!"

We need to be blatantly and, to a fault, truthful with the people of this nation. Things will be different.

I just needed to say that. Thanks for listening.

4. BRAVO! It's our country and we ought to take it back. We need to bring
all of our troops home. Then we need to send those who were scheduled to replace them to the areas devastated by Katrina. We need to clean up the rubble and begin the rebuilding immediately. We should keep rotating newly trained troops into the Katrina mess until it is restored to pre-Katrina greatness. We can do it. It should be our priority.

At the same time our Congress needs to restore America to it's greatness where we take care of our own poor, elderly and disabled. Our Congress needs to make education and health care a priority for every American. They also need to put America first in jobs, production, and farming. They also need to reverse every change this administration has foisted on the American public such as no child left behind and homeland security.

There is much to do and we need to begin today.

5. Titus Andronicus - ACT III
MARCUS ANDRONICUS
Now, farewell, flattery: die, Andronicus;
Thou dost not slumber: see, thy two sons' heads,
Thy warlike hand, thy mangled daughter here:
Thy other banish'd son, with this dear sight
Struck pale and bloodless; and thy brother, I,
Even like a stony image, cold and numb.
Ah, now no more will I control thy griefs:
Rend off thy silver hair, thy other hand
Gnawing with thy teeth; and be this dismal sight
The closing up of our most wretched eyes;
Now is a time to storm; why art thou still?

TITUS ANDRONICUS
Ha, ha, ha!

MARCUS ANDRONICUS
Why dost thou laugh? it fits not with this hour.

TITUS ANDRONICUS
Why, I have not another tear to shed:
Besides, this sorrow is an enemy,
And would usurp upon my watery eyes
And make them blind with tributary tears:
Then which way shall I find Revenge's cave?
For these two heads do seem to speak to me,
And threat me I shall never come to bliss
Till all these mischiefs be return'd again
Even in their throats that have committed them.
Come, let me see what task I have to do.

7. YES YES YES YES
The Republicons tell mini- lies just as often as the mega- lies because they -can-. Obfuscation has become the Republicon paradigm. Hatch's lies about Carol Lam on MTP is a case in point. Hatch didn't even blink as the lies rolled off his tongue. If a Republicon says it, then it must be the truth so no one challenged Hatch until after the fact. His lies were validated by silence and still linger in viewer's minds.

Republicons have been getting a huge pass for far too long. They are so entrenched in lies that the truth just sounds ‘wrong’ to them. Truth throws them off balance.

The more our candidates embrace the truth, the more they will set themselves apart from the liars. They need to ratchet it up .. If they commit to always setting the bar as high as possible, the Republicons won't have a clue.. ( not that they do anyway)

Hearing a candidate speak the truth is exciting. I know how thrilled I was when I heard Gov. Richardson's statement the day he signed the medical marijuana bill ( paraphrasing) "Sure it's a risk, but it's the right thing to do" Yes!

Insisting on the truth may be a risk but it is the right thing to do and the only real option.

9. Reminds me of Jackson Browne's song I'm alive
and the line
Now you could fill a swimming pool with all my salty tears.
I'm through as well, have been for a while, I'm past the point of listening to bs as well, and past, way past the point of compassion.
now, I'm ready to slap people upside the head and yell at them to wake the fuck up.

a while to go (but cut loose and wail whenever you feel the need..it is a healthy way to cope with the loss).
