Should SC's Lt. Governor Bauer Take the Reigns?
How long do you let a missing governor not run the state?

If I lived in SC, I would want a head of state in place. What if something like the train wreck in DC occurred in SC while the governor was missing?

It appears that no one knows where he is or when he may return. Time to give the powers to Lt. Governor Bauer, IMO.

2. I'm thinking it may be a bit to early for the Lt. Gov to take over the reins
but I won't be surprised if that happens if Sanford doesn't show up within the next day or sol.

3. Andre is NO peach, either.
He's the one who was doing 70 mph down Main St claiming to the officials that he was "SC 2"

That was considered pretty bizarre when that happened.

4. Oh, I know he's not any better, but I think Sanford should have his
political career put into jeopardy for this stunt.

5. That's Up To The Legislature...
From one who witnessed a three month circus in removing a governor, many of us here got a refresher on this process.

If the SC State Constitution is similar to the one here in Illinois, it's up to the legislature to rule if Sanford is AWOL or incompetant or fuggly or whatever and then can vote to strip him of his powers or remove him from office altogether. The question would be in a short term emergency...is there some kind of written law that determines who is the head of state in the event a governor is either incapacitated or incommunicado. We have such rules on the federal level and one would think there is some kind of similar structure on the state as well.

Bottom line is it's up to the people of South Carolina...it's TV, newspaper, bloggers and radio to ask questions and try to flush out what's really happening here.

6. What's the legal definition of a missing person?
Isn't there a certain amount of time after which the person can/should be declared missing?

7. I think they know where he is.
Calling for removal of powers, even temporarily would flush him out.
