Which Dem Senator Would You Replace?
Other than Lieberman and Specter - not real Dems. Perhaps we can work to adopt a primary race - god we gotta do something. Any thougts as to who is beatable (puts Nelson out) and not a likely GOP pickup. Thoughts?

17. mary landrieu
was just reelected - 2014 is next race.

louisiana politics: any dem that can beat her in a primary will be creamed by a republican.

we are about to lose our only dem representative (charlie melancon) in a quixotic bid to unseat "family values" champion "diaper dave" vitter.

a dem will likely beat one term rep cao in dist 2 (new orleans) but cao is a good guy and a "not guilty" for wm jefferson may lead to his election.

48. I like your analysis. We cannot just "get rid of" Dems if Pugs will take
their place. We need to look at each one of these people and what the chances are in winning the seat if we do get rid of them. Some states will never elect a progressive candidate and we are lucky they give us someone who votes with us even half the time. Louisiana is definitely one of those states.

Back in 2004 we got rid of daschle and replaced him with thune. What a bargain! I did not like daschle very much but I hate his replacement. We need to pick our battles and make sure we are not going to hurt ourselves more than we are helping.

Yeah, they can usually be counted on to vote the wrong way, especially Pryor.

52. As a Californian, I must agree, too
that Feinstein has to go. She is a complete drag on what Boxer and other Progressives are trying to accomplish in this state. Plus the fact, I believe Feinstein's husband profited handsomely from the war in Iraq. I don't "get" the stature she has in the Senate aside from her years there.

Feingold, Byrd, Boxer, Kerry, Franken (eventually), Kennedy (until he picks his replacement), and Sanders.

*There are a few others that are potentially redeemable.

We have pretty much the same list, except for Sanders -- who I didn't list because he's an Independent, not a Dem -- and Byrd, who I considered but didn't name. :)

22. It would make for a shorter list if you asked which Dem senator WOULDN'T you replace?
I'd give my own Senator Amy Klobuchar another go-round, and Russ Feingold seems like a keeper. Ted Kennedy, long life to him, I'd keep him for sure. Barbara Boxer, she can stay. Tom Harkin, John Kerry -- that's about all I can think of.

There may be a couple/three other good ones, but I think that's about it.

50. interesting. never thought he was dumb - just lazy. either way
he just doesn't rise to the occasion.

I remember when we were all unbelievably upset in 04 - not believing the vote was on the up and up. An old lady at a CSPAN event asked Bayh - "why should we vote if we don't know if our vote is really counting?" Bayh just looked totally puzzled and shocked = like despite all the controversy about the election and Bush mysterously winning Fl despite being behind by 2 the night before and winning by 4 (totaling a 6pt gain in one night when most people had made up their minds 2 weeks prior). Bayh hadn't seemed to have heard the first thing about it.

To contribute to these for re-election, and some primary challenges? Obama, for example, wont see another dime from me, or the DSCC or DCCC - they have the scrooge mcducks' contributions.

38. Any senator of any party up for reelection in 2010. And all the members
of the house.

And again for the next two election cycles until there is a completely new crop. The ones in office have had ample time to feather their nests, line their pockets, create a cushion upon which to fall back. Now it is time for a new crop of nest featherers, pocket liners, cushion preparers. Spread the wealth around.

Alot of people are. I've discussed this with many of my Republican friends, as well. We all agree that we're all being duped by Congress.

Sure we'll lose some good eggs, but it's more important for VOTERS to re-gain control of Congress.
