How Duer's communicate on Twitter?

I am afraid Twitter seems complicated to me.

1. For the most part

It's a few tweets asking how to use twitter. Outside of person to person communications, I have yet to see it used for much.

4. I started my account over a month ago but don't use it much either. nt

2. It's more like you are

sending out a memo to everyone who follows you (sorta like following journals on DU) but the memo is limited to 140 characters.

3. I have always thought of it

As more or less the same types of ephemeral things you say either while chatting with a friend in a bar, towards the TV/Radio when you are watching and event, or towards the car in front of you while driving.

Pretty much you say it and forget about it.

5. I use it as a teacher

to send out reminders to students and to let them know when I have posted grades, etc. About 1/5 of my students follow me on the first semester I have tried it. I like it from that angle.

There are a couple DUers that post links to news and that service is pretty good.

Is there a lot of crap on there? Sure. Just don't follow those people.

6. I signed up and started an account so I could receive updates on commodity prices

And I promptly received emails from at least ten people who wanted to "follow" me on twitter.

That sounded a lot like stalkers so I just deleted the emails.

I'm unimpressed so far. I think it's going to lead to a lot of spam in my e mail box.

And wait until the viagra peddlers discover it. What a friggin mess that's gonna be.

8. Twitter is fantastic...

Were all friendly and its been awesome getting to know other sides of familiar faces..

Do as Mika said and search the tag #demund. Anyone who uses it is a DU'er for sure.. Unless its Agent Mike.
