What are the arguements against Co-ops (besides "Healthcare shouldn't be for profit")

I'm working on a letter to write to my Senator, Blanche Lincoln who I need to convince to support the public option. What do I need to say?

1. Co-ops do not have bargaining power

They are too small and can be bought out by private companies.

3. co-ops are a great idea for something local, like food.

Co-ops for something larger, like a State or portion of a State, just adds another payer or two, or three, for practitioners to have to deal with. That includes all the little bs rules and such.

From a practitioner point of view, anything less than a single payer won't give us the kinds of cost savings we want if health insurance corporations still are around. Dealing with the hundreds of corporations and rules is a damn nightmare for practitioners!
