Where was the U.S. News coverage of the Protests of the RNC in Minnesota Last year ?

All though I feel for the people of IRAN and wish they were allowed to protest peacefully.
It is such a joke to see the coverage by the US news, especially Fox News.

Sadly, I found out last week that a girl did die from being hit by a rubber bullet last year, but the family wanted it keep silent at the time, and for her not to be a martyr.

In Minn and St. Paul, We didn't throw things.. let alone rocks and other items... Yet the riot people came out anyhow and teargassed and peppered sprayed and shot rubber bullets directly into the crowd. Thousands detained.

800 charged with misdeamors and felonies. The trials continue and zero convictions,, the rest have been pressured into guilty pleas.

See the video's of Law-enforcemnt chasing down non-violent protests.. some not even protest.. some people were reporters and some were just people who lived in the area or who were coming and going to work, or local events. The police targeted young people.

By the way.. DFL prosecutors, and no DFL Politician has condemned the actions of the Law-enforcement

3. It wasn't as big. AND corpo media was controlling the show.
One of the biggest draws to calling CNN out was to do #CNNFAIL. As well, the election in Iran were larger than the RNC protests. Besides, as much as America touts free speach, etc... Corpo Amerika and Govmint officials don't really want an uprising in America.

I really wished when Obama's celebration inauguration had brought so many into D.C., that they'd come back the next day with signs that said: We want jobs that pay, we want more time with our families, we want Medicade for all, we want out of the wars.. It would have been the fastest we've ever seen our congresscritters get anything done.

6. agree 10000 percent...i think about the RNC protest in new york
where women were getting beaten up, cops were chasing and arresting random people, and nobody gave a shit.

there is a lot of 'water treading' in our media, who are trying to talk about what is going on in Iran, while COMPLETELY FUCKING IGNORING what happened here.

7. The Media cooperate in never showing Protests ---this is a way
of controlling people. Both Parties in Washinton hate Protests.
People power equates to Populism in their Minds Eye. Populism
is the enemy of Corportatism. Furthermore, it is Democrats
who for the most part do protests. The Media must at all costs
never let it appear there are large groups of Democrats. The
Media has a one line Propaganda Message: This is a Center Right
Country. Their Corporate Bosses and Lawmakers wish it this way.

8. If you can remember, did you see news coverage of the "Storm Troopers" in St Paul ?
AT the time I was so busy before, of all 5 days during, and then afterwards with all the arrests, trials.. and craziness.

From april 2008 till about april 2009, it seems like a blur.

I always wondered what the rest of Americans saw.

9. In order to make a protest really work nowadays
we need to tear the place apart and shut everything down so that there is no more business as usual!!!

13. The girl that died, is that story going to become public?
That's outrageous. So they did kill somebody, after months of saying nobody got hurt. God that pisses me off. What can we do about this? I'm still outraged about what happened at the RNC to this day. What do you suggest we do to help?

15. it's like the coverage of Iran has increasingly less to do with Iran itself
Edited on Mon Jun-22-09 01:56 PM by MisterP
it's always framed in terms of other fights--the American Revolution, the 2000 recount, etc. Often it's some sort of "universal" war between all-dark, GOP- or Moscow-like backward mullahs and the all-light Just-Like-Us-Americans Youth, who are ecstasy-dropping headbangers at night and dewy-eyed idealists by day. It's like Iranian events can have have no Iranian causes! The last time the US sank to these depths of misjudgement, the "freedom fighters" butchered 250,000 Central Americans in the "war against totalitarianism" and the smiling Honduran natives burned down part of the embassy.
On top of this is crude propaganda showing Yanukovich Gregory House if he ran a country as Lucifer, the protesters as the Statue of Liberty. Oh, and Iran exists to give Twitter ad revenue.
