Realize folks this is what commitment to a cause looks like.

1. This song is running through my head now,
after viewing those photos:

Ive been waiting for something to happen
For a week or a month or a year
With the blood in the ink of the headlines
And the sound of the crowd in my ear
You might ask what it takes to remember
When you know that you've seen it before
Where a government lies to a people
And a country is drifting to war

And there's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who send the guns
To the wars that are fought in places
Where their business interest runs

On the radio talk shows and the TV
You hear one thing again and again
How the USA stands for freedom
And we come to the aid of a friend
But who are the ones that we call our friends--
These governments killing their own?
Or the people who finally cant take any more
And they pick up a gun or a brick or a stone
There are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire

There's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who fan the flames
Of the wars that are fought in places
Where we cant even say the names

They sell us the president the same way
They sell us our clothes and our cars
They sell us every thing from youth to religion
The same time they sell us our wars
I want to know who the men in the shadows are
I want to hear somebody asking them why
They can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are
But they're never the ones to fight or to die
And there are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire

"Lives In The Balance"
Jackson Browne

11. You're very welcome.
I'm happy that you liked it. I agree that it's brilliant.

I first saw it a few years ago. When you posted the lyrics I thought of it and went searching for it on youtube.

4. Wow! Just WOW!!!!
I am in awe of those Iranians who are literally risking their lives to fight for their right to elect the man they want...

Where are the pics of the Americans protesting after the 2000 and 2004 elections??? I know there were protests, but even the few that did occur were not given any media attention here.

7. Here where I live, we were best case, 100 people
in 2004

I remember begging people to do more than just sit on asses and post.

Next time, and there will be a next time, why should I take to the streets when the native born don't care? That was my lesson. Freezing outside a mall, doing my civic duty and feeling very lonely.

8. I went to DC and there were marches here in NYC, but the media mostly ignored them.
I looked for stories and pics after I came home from each one....nothing....like they never happened.

9. Well we need a national strike but people won't do it
it is that simple. They have been conditioned not to.

15. the only way to make it stop is for those in power to stop it
otherwise people will keep dying. you can arm the people but the govt has more they can hit back with.

there are foreign countries who need to pressure the govt to not attack their own people. not the united states, but many others. mostly of them in asia and middle east and maybe some others like France.
