And it has NOTHING to do with the people here....
Its getting to the point ( to pseudo-quote CSN ) that its no fun anymore. I used to love to come to DU. It was THE place to come and be with like minded folks who cared about the issues that I cared about. It was the place to get my news. It was the place to cheer the folks that I thought would put this country back on track.

Unfortunately, its just to depressing to come to DU anymore. Its too depressing to listen to news programs anymore. Its too depressing to discuss politics with my friends anymore. I'm in a deep funk and I don't see it getting any better. Two seemingly unending wars. An economy in the crapper with little chance for it to recover because we don't MAKE anything anymore and our tariffs are all out of wack. And every day, more and more Americans who have worked HARD all their lives are losing everything through no fault of their own. We are being sold out in the realm of Heath Care because the politicians are bought and paid for.

Its all just too depressing.

I love my fellow progressives here. It was so wonderful to finally get the NeoCons out of the White House. The celebrations after November 5th and January 20th were stuff of legends.

I suppose I need to be more patient, but its hard to be patient when thousands/millions are suffering.

I will still visit, because DU is in my blood. But it hurts to much to be here often.
Who is this written to? Certainly not to anyone in particular. Sometimes ya just need to get it out there. A catharsis, somewhat.

So, thanks for reading and sorry for taking up your time for the purpose of my mental welfare.

2. You are not alone. I made a post just like yours a few days ago.
I got lots of responses, ranging from "just suck it up and keep fighting" to deep understanding - which is what I expected. I am glad to see posts like yours because it makes me realize that my wife and I are not alone in our frustration, disappointment and concern that we will never be able to climb out of the mess that's been created.

3. Definitely agree about the wars. Hard to believe the number 1 issue
isn't even talked about anymore. People are still fighting and dying, and for what? The press never mentions casualties anymore so people have stopped caring. Unending is a good way to put it.

4. I can TOTALLY relate. I have to keep coming because I am living in the same
house with a RW dad right now so this is my only link to sanity (besides my husband). Some days it is pretty depressing, but
somebody has to keep the fire burning, so I keep getting singed. :-)

I'm sorry you're feeling down. I'm glad you'll keep lurking. Hopefully we'll have something to celebrate someday soon. :grouphug:

5. It sure IS depressing.
We got the House, the Senate, and the White House...

And still the M$M belongs entirely to the neo-con agenda.

The bad guys still seem to be winning and we can't put it down to being out of power any longer.

I don't have much to say that's encouraging, but you're not alone.

6. Try this. A sure cure for the "nothing will ever change" blues.

It's cheap. And, it works every time.

7. No problem...let it all out...I feel the same sometimes.
And ore and more I think we need a real purpose and goal to work for.
And it can't be some thing like getting someone elected...that is futile as long as the powerful corporations own the congress and the media.

I would like to see all the progressive groups get together and call a national strike and march to DC and camp out there until congress comes around and works for us....but that is just me.
And I suspect that noting much will change until we do something like that.
