Rachel Maddow just shone on Charlie Rose last night!
She is just one brilliant, talented, confident, amazing - but humble! - person. Oh yes - one more thing - she is absolutely essential watching.

2. Can you give an example or two?
Charlie Rose isn't someone everyone watches regularly. He's lost a lot of people during the Bush years with his seemingly inability to see what's so obvious to most Americans.

4. Let me tell you about my TV news habits - Tweety is an idiot, Keith is fun, but Rachel I believe

It is my opinion that she is the best newscaster in the profession. When she says it I believe it.

PS: On Edit - I love Ed, the only person in living memory to stand up for the working man and not one god damned bit apologetic about it. Just the way it should be.

7. she expressed herself so concisely, elegantly,...
she answered the questions asked even after all the Charley Rose extraneous wordiness. She has a comprehensive grasp of every issue she covers and can break them down in exacting detail.

She is an intellectual powerhouse with an affable personality who is setting the standard for television journalism. There is no hiding her brilliance ESPECIALLY when compared to her peers. She is in another league in both style and substance.

She is aware of her influence and is conscious of the attendant responsibility for her work. All this was expressed more eloquently by Rachel herself. But that's what I got from her segment.

You can eventually watch the interview for yourself here when it goes online...

9. I agree that Rachel is terrific
When I first saw her on TV, I thought, "meh", but she has kept working and gotten so much better that it's absolutely amazing. It's really a tribute to her intelligence and her work ethic. I think her show really outshines Olbermann now, and I still like Countdown.

6. Thank you for your post, and I couldn't agree more.
Progressives should be happier than a pig in s#|t to have someone the caliber and integrity of Rachel on cable news. I am dumbfounded to see her regularly belittled and described as "unwatchable" by many DU'ers. I have to admit, I do not understand how these anti-Rachel folks come to find a home on DU.

8. She has a doctorate in political science and she is using it well. The combination
of heart with education shines.
