1. Oh, there's a NAME for the lady now?
I miss everything.

Ed quit too soon.

I want to know more about Cindy's husband, the guy who tried to blackmail Ensign. He's my new hero, regardless of his scumbag status. He brought Ensign to his knees.

I'm easily pleased...........................

2. Ensign is trying a weee bit too hard
at painting the husband as a vengeful man, angry husband for me. I bet there is much more to the story as I doubt there was extortion involved. I sense a pay-off offer by Ensign was the real story.

13. That's why we need to know what was in that severance
package for Cindy Hampton. That was the original hush money.

http://a11news.com/2072/senator-ensign-cynthia-hampton-affair/
<snip>
Senator Ensign Cynthia Hampton Affair - Details are emerging about the affair between Senator John Ensign and staffer Cynthia Hampton, aka Cindy Hampton, including a possible extortion attempt by her husband Douglas Hampton that caused Ensign to go public with his third affair.

The Senator Ensign Cynthia Hampton affair began in December 2007 and continued through August 2008, four months after both Cindy Hampton and Doug Hampton left Ensign’s staff.

46-year old Cynthia Hampton served as the treasurer for Ensign’s reelection campaign and for his leadership fund, Battle Born PAC, ending her affiliation with the two committees in early 2008.

Douglas Hampton served as Ensign’s administrative assistant in his personal office from November 2006 to May 2008 — earning $101,000 in 2008 and $144,000 in 2007 - leaving around the same time that Cynthia Hampton left Ensign’s committees.

A mandatory financial disclosure form Douglas Hampton filed in 2007 and 2008 – required for senior congressional staffers - showed only checking and savings account worth a maximum $30,000 combined.

Political insiders in Nevada and in the Senate said that Ensign decided to acknowledge his affair with Cynthia Hampton publicly only after her husband asked him for a substantial sum of money

Questions abound about the affair and the purported extortion attempt:

1. How did the Hamptons afford a $1.6 million dollar home in Las Vegas?
2. Did Ensign report Douglas Hampton’s request for a substantial sum of money?
3. Did Ensign get Douglas Hampton a high-paying private job to keep the affair quiet?
-------------
I want to know about Cindy's severance package?
We know this is big or the Rushicans would not have made him resign from party positions.

5. Did Larry Flynt have the scoop on him last year?
Larry Flynt has a Casino in Nevada which gives him proximity to the issues.... and I recall him telling of hypocritical Congress members " in waiting" to be exposed.....Who is really behind the exposure?

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/06/did-housing-crisis-lead-to-ensigns-confession.php
<snip>
The folks at Gawker have raised an interesting idea in the John Ensign scandal: Did the housing crisis indirectly trigger Ensign's eventual admission of his affair with a former campaign staffer?

The key facts here are that Ensign's reported former mistress was Cynthia Hampton, whose husband Douglas Hampton is a former top Ensign staffer. The Hamptons in turn had taken out a $1.2 million mortgage in 2006, on what is clearly a very swank house in Las Vegas: Five bedrooms, five full bathrooms and one half-bathroom, three fireplaces, a pool and a spa. The net taxes on the House last year were $8,466.41.

But financial disclosures also show that the Hamptons are not wealthy people. And Douglas Hampton had reportedly been asking Ensign for money, which led to Ensign's public admission.

No, I don't live in Nevada. I just recalled Larry Flynt on Larry King last year and am calmly waiting for him to expose the hypocrites.

Apparently he was having the affair while calling for Craig to resign. There are no words for these hypocrites.

It will get worse once that severance package figure is discovered.
I wonder where that down payment for the house came from?

and you're FABULOUS! Thank you so much for keeping me informed.

I find it interesting that he so quickly resigned his leadership position in the Senate. No doubt, he's advised his GOPig colleagues that there is a lot yet to be made public.

Pass the popcorn........................

34. This is not the woman who had the affair with Ensign
This is just a poor woman with the same name. The picture originally came from a website about a group in which she is active. On that website she describes an event in her life, the year it happened, and her age at the time. She is not the 46 year old woman who had the affair with Ensign. She is a completely different woman.

27. OK. Make your own joke here. Tweety reported tonight that Ensign
is an avowed "Promisekeeper". One of those men who preaches the responsibilities of husband and wife, with one of the primary responsibilities of the husband to honor his wife.
Hmmmm. Promisekeeper.
Promiseleaker? Promisefreaker? Promisebjneeder?
I do feel sorry for his family. But Dad earned my disrespect when he condemned Clinton for infidelity.
It is, yet again, the over-whelming stench of the hypocrisy of the right.

9. That is just a lame strategy to
change the focus on another..............The key step next is to zing it right back to Ensign and not acknowledge their diversion. My kids do that when they feel they have stepped into a pile.
