1. Did he lie in a press conference when asked about it? Did he perjure himself?
Apples and Oranges.

The Clenis lost his "credibility" in the eyes of the repukes because of his response, not because of the act.

Don't use ensign's infidelity to excuse the actions of Clinton, or vice versa.

3. Clinton`s actions were sssooo much worse than Ensign`s.
The excuses are all the same. Couldn`t keep that little head in the pants, DAMN! I have known men in promise keepers. It`s all bullshit, all the same. If you want to cut Clinton with the cheater`s knife, why not Ensign? What makes his cheating any different?

5. Yet how many good repukes have denied their cheating and just kept right on in their positions?
Hatch? Newt? McCain?

6. It's not about the affair, dearie. It's about the HYPOCRISY.
Edited on Wed Jun-17-09 01:45 PM by kestrel91316
As a loudmouthed "family values" Pentecostal born-again fundie, Ensign needs to keep his own fucking nose clean, which he has failed to do. So now he needs to sit down and shut the hell up about OTHER people's morals.

I seem to recall my bible mentioning how VERY angry hypocrisy made Jesus. And how adultery, well, not so much.

Don't come on here and support Ensign and start flapping your lips about Clinton. People might think you're a RW troll.

12. True--I never heard Clinton allege that he was a faithful husband
And there are no quotes that I know of where he weighed in on the Clarence Thomas hearings or any other sexual harassment stuff that could be likened to Lewinsky (or even Jones). If any such existed you can bet it would have been dredged up and repeated endlessly.

9. Seriously?
How about when your response to being a Christianista, a member of the Promise Keepers, a national scold on morals, an opponent to gay marriage and a vocal and unsparing critic of others who stray from their marriage vows is to do exactly what you chide others for doing? Don't think such hypocrisy hurts one's credibility?

Did he lie in a press conference about his extracurricular sex life? Absolutely, in that he didn't bother to bring up of his own volition the fact that he was engaging in extramarital sex of his own while at the same time chiding others for doing so. That's a lie of omission, especially when you have painted a public persona for yourself that relies heavily on your being above the "disgusting behavior" you criticize in others, especially when you purport to believe in a god who knows your every thought, word and deed.

Yes, Ensign loved to pretend that he stood for something that other, sex-obsessed politicians didn't (""We need to get back to basic core principles that moderates and conservatives can agree on," Ensign said. "A lot of conservative Democrats and independents used to like us because we actually stood for something." - John Ensign in Iowa, 6/2/9).

Ensign is just the latest in a long, long line of lying and hypocritical "Family Values" Rs.

13. You DO realize
that there was actually no perjury there, legally, don't you? Bill Clinton lost his credibility in the eyes of Republicans because he is a Democrat.

4. After that long winded sanctimonious speech,
declaring himself the worst person in the world, you would think that he would come to the conclusion that he didn't deserve to be in office.
