Iran - Go all in!
I know it's very easy to sit thousands of miles away, and tell other people to risk everything. However, it seems to me that at this point that the reformers will be hurt one way or another. They will take it either head on in protest or in the back running and hiding. They aren't cowards if they choose the latter course. It is human nature, and in the din of war it is hard to think.

There are a lot of moving parts and many factions operating. Ahmadinejad does not have a fierce grip on a lot of things it appears. Hopefully, the reformers can push to the tipping point and that will be all she wrote.

I wish there was something I could do besides send them hope, and salute them from afar. I may have an all in moment at some point too or sadly enough I may have missed one.

1. Sadly, I predict this will end very soon. The military is showing up
and will probably stop the dissenters.

Unless they have weapons as well.

8. I'd like to hear more about Iran's military
they certainly aren't the same as these black clad motorcycle thugs
(who are reported to be Hezbollah not Persian). Just like their first revolution,
if the military sides with the people and not the tyrants, then there might be hope.
If not, I'm afraid you're right about this being over very soon.

Anyone have any insights into the leanings of the military leadership?

10. I have read items that make me wonder.
A former Iranian Guard commander called the election a farce. Another item said the military was in on the coup. Another said that they were not going to enter the fray. Who knows??

If thy don't side with A-Mad, there is hope.

2. Now we may better understand the significance of Obama's speech...
...the timing, the location, and the audience.

3. As long as some crazy neo-con doesn't convince the U.S. and Israel..
to attack Iran so we can create another "American Made Democracy" things may change on the next election. It might be better than a bloodbath.

4. I might have thought so too at one point.
However, I think A-mad will go after every last dissenter he can find if he stays in power. In this election, they have shown how much the power means to them. They didn't even pretend that the election was valid. They won't wait for people to reorganize and go again. They are going to tear the opposition down now. That's why I say it's all in.

7. I keep wondering if they deliberately made it blatant
skewed the numbers so much to ensure riots, precisely so they could crush them. Teaching moment.

5. There's not a lot we can do officially
Remember, most of these people have been calling us the "Great Satan" for 30 years. We can't officially do much to help out the Musevni side without looking like he's our tool (like the Shah was). But I'm sure that there's a lot of back-channel stuff going on.

9. I hope they have access to firearms. If a country ever needed a second
amendment, those kids in the streets do now.

Flame away.
