Like Ohio needs more bad news..
WASHINGTON -- Ohio is losing more General Motors dealerships to the company's bankruptcy than any other state except Pennsylvania.
Figures released by a congressional committee Friday show Ohio losing 79 GM dealerships, all of which received "wind down" letters from the company in the early stages of its bankruptcy filing.
Pennsylvania will lose 90 General Motors dealerships. The figure for Illinois is 66, followed by California with 65, New York with 60, while Texas had 55 dealerships on the closing list.
Nearly 1,300 franchises across the country are being dropped in the process of reorganizing General Motors. CEO Fritz Henderson defended the franchise cuts at Friday's hearing saying, "This is our last chance."
