Attacked by a Mockingbird
We have a Holly Tree northeast of our home. Unbeknownst to me a Mockingbird had nested in the tree and is tending her babies. I inadvertantly happened to stumble into her territory and she got real loud and real big and was gonna whup my ass right on my own property. Me, the Momma and babies are doing fine, I just check them out with binoculars now.

Conservatives squawk much worse then the pretty tunes turned out by mockingbirds but the Birds aren't cowards when you get in their face and you'll never find them hiding behind microphones.

1. There used to be one on Mass Ave. right by Brookings and Johns Hopkins that attacked
everybody. ABC News, which is in that 'hood finally did a funny compilation of film of the bird attacking all sorts of folks.

2. The babies are fledging here. Crows try to grab them. The parents are fierce.
The mockingbirds also don't all sing the same song.

3. "he said that a Kanga was Generally Regarded as One of the Fiercer Animals.
I am not frightened of Fierce Animals in the ordinary way, but it is well known that, if One of the Fiercer Animals is Deprived of Its Young, it becomes as fierce as Two of the Fiercer Animals.

In which case 'Aha!' is perhaps a foolish thing to say."

5. The mockingbirds that live around my yard chase the squirrels.
Bluejays can be very protective, also. I was leaving for work a few days ago when I heard the jays making a racket out front. I thought they were fussing at the cat, but she was sitting near the porch and not paying any attention to them. Then, I saw the hawk fly out of the pecan tree and the jays fell in behind him and kept harrassing him.
