The Full Court Press Against Health-Care Reform
The Republican Party and the insurance companies have all their troops lined up to fight the President's health-care proposal. They have even recruited the "Blue Dog" Democrats to help with their cause. They aim to defeat any health-care reform. It's going to be a real struggle for this President to get anything passed resembling reform.

What should he do? Simply fold his cards? Or continue to fight? And how should he continue the battle? Should he take to the bully pulpit to try and convince the American people of the necessity of this reform? Or should he visit the districts and states of those Congressmen and Senators that are voting to deny health-care to all our people once again? Should they feel the heat in their next election? What should be the President's next move?

1. Since a majority of Americans want this to happen I think his reelection rides on it.
I think he knows that. Not only is it the right thing to do but he can capitalize on the neccessity of making this priority one. And also ecnomic recovery can't happen without lower healthcare costs.

4. Fight, fight, fight!
Play hardball with the blue dogs. Enlist the public to pressure their 'representatives.'

2. LBJ style hardball.
Round three of fed bailout money should be means tested for support of Universal Single Payer.

3. Consensus building is going to take clarity on what exactly will change.
It's up to Obama to explain enough of the details for voters to be able to say Yes I Like That.

Right now, nebulous fear of change has the upper hand because any discussion about improvements to the system is so esoteric and there are multiple trial balloons being floated.

When the President settles on what he wants to fight for, he must go out there and repeat the boiled-down details over and over again, and never deviate from a consistent message or the opponents of reform are sure to take the ball away from him and run the other direction with it.

5. The majority of people want good health care reform and/or
single payer. There are many groups out there, including unions that are pushing for this, and the movement is growing. All they need is a great leader to bring them together and lead the way to make this happen. That leader should be President Obama. I hope he steps up and takes this opportunity.
