Hundreds Stand In Line For State Fair Jobs
June 9, 2009

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Hundreds -- including some who waited for hours in line -- have applied for just 120 temporary jobs with this summer's Ohio State Fair.

Human resources director Susan Weyrick with the agency that organizes the fair says Monday's crowd of job seekers was the most she'd ever seen on the first day applications were accepted.

Several applicants said they were willing to take any position with the fair, given the state of the economy and with few other jobs available.

Weyrick usually hands out the employment forms from her office but this time set up tables at the fairgrounds.

About 600 people will work the fair during its 12-day run beginning July 29. But all but 120 of those jobs will go to workers returning from last year.

Times are good. :sarcasm:

2. Funny, on the local news here...
They stated that they had never seen so many applicants for this event in it's history.

3. Yep. I've been in those lines and worn the pith helmet directing traffic.
The Ohio State Fair has always had this kind of turnout.
