She's Getting Worse
Run, Palin, Run!

http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2009_06/018534.php

SHE'S GETTING WORSE.... Maybe it's just me, but it seems like Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), instead of becoming more credible and serious as her time in government progresses, is getting more ridiculous as time goes on.

In her appearance on "Hannity" on Monday night, Sarah Palin claimed that the country was headed towards socialism. <...>

Hannity, who bragged that he was interviewing her near his New York home, asked Palin about the country's debt and Obama's federal programs, prompting Palin to outline her fears.

"Our country could evolve into something that we do not even recognize, certainly that is so far from what the founders of our country had in mind for us."

Hannity interrupted her: "Socialism?"

To which Palin responded: "Well, that's where we are headed."

Palin added that increasing the national debt "defies any sensible economic policy that any of us ever learned through college."

I'm going to assume Palin was absent the day they taught Keynesian theory. She really seems to believe the principal goal of government in the midst of an economic crisis is to lower the deficit. In other words, what she "learned through college" is that Hoover was right.

"{T}his many months into the new administration, {I'm} quite disappointed, quite frustrated with not seeing those actions to rein in spending, slow down the growth of government," Palin argued. "Instead, Sean, it is the complete opposite."

Well, yes, it is the "complete opposite." That's the point. Facing the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, we want the opposite.

Mark Halperin referred to this bizarre Fox News interview as the "ALASKA SHOCKER!!!" (emphasis in the original). I have no idea what prompted this -- the only thing "shocking" is how little sense Palin made.

The governor went on to say that she rejected a "bucket of money" in stimulus funds because of the "strings attached." As it turns out, Alaskan lawmakers can't find any of these imaginary strings and even Republican officials are poised to override her veto. (That Palin would even consider complaining about federal funds is amusing given the largesse Alaska keeps accepting from D.C.)

At this point, Palin manages to make George W. Bush look like a sophisticated policy wonk. That so many far-right activists consider her their political savior is astounding.

3. You know, I can see it in her eyes that she is aware that people are seeing through her
I seen a pic of her this morning that made me think that first off.

12. I wonder if she's capable of that sort of self-awareness
She's certainly not bright enough to make much sense of anything. But she's got enough ambition for several people.

29. Saw something that struck me the same way
yesterday - they were showing various pictures of her, and one struck me as showing her awareness of her own irrelevancy to the majority of people whose votes she'd need to get elected. Another picture showed her looking very old, almost like she had none of her usual makeup, and gobs of wrinkles and flat hair - for a minute, I thought it was a prank photo because she looked like she'd aged about 20 years in it, but it was for real.

I mention that photo, because Sarah was chosen mainly for her eye candy appeal (though I don't see it myself) - to get the old white guys off their chairs and excited by her short short skirts. If she starts looking like she did in the photo I saw, they will quit listening to her word salad, which they don't understand any more than the rest of us do. I hate when women are judged y their appearances, I guess unless you are talking about the republican party doing it as a strategy to win and it backfires. What a backwoods clan they've become.

13. I concur
I don't like admitting I actually want a bozo to run for POTUS, but seeing how this particular bozo will only make reelection that much easier for President Obama AND further hinder the GOP, why not?

18. No kidding. Last night, Olbermann had long segments of her speech....
... where she "borrowed" from Newt Gingrich. She had the entire text in front of her, yet she was a stammering, stuttering dope because she had no idea what the hell she was going to say next. I doubt she understood what she said when she finally coughed out the words.

When one considers the amazing speechifying by both Clintons and Obama, the contrast to Bush and Palin is stunning.

17. Maybe someone should suggest that she give up all the money
And she can figure out how to protect herself from the Russia she can see from her house.

The airports that she uses for travel can do without runway improvements or FAA assistance with air traffic control. Maybe she can pave the roads without federal help.

I wouldn't mention the federal money for welfare or other social programs because she would gladly let those people suffer without.

16. Please make her go away.
I, unfortunately, resemble her and during the election, I heard it constantly. I went to a Halloween party as MYSELF, and people thought I was trying to be her. After the election when she started to kind of fade away, I then heard I look like Tina Fey which I don't mind one bit! I can't stand this woman and hate being compared to her in any way. Grrrrr.
