sickening. Some were snatched in round up arrests. (watch terrorizing dissent) some were just going to one of the many concerts, some were part of the marches, some were part of the marches, just standing their ground (we had permits that went till 11pm), and some were arrested during raids, guns drawn on them as they slept in their beds.

Here is just the trials for JUNE. (the DFL Mayors of both St. Paul, and Minneapolis still haven't spoken out).

Two felony cases go to trial call this week.

Monday at 9AM a young man from out of state goes to trial call in Judge VanDeNorth's court. He asked for "a speedy trial" and the judge promised to put him as high up on the roster as he legally could. There is a possibility that he could go to trial sometime in the next three weeks. While he doesn't want his name batted around the Internet, he would welcome court support.

Jason Sparks also goes to trial call. He will be in Judge Flynn's court at 9AM Moday morning, June 8th. He has the same judge as Jesse and Dustin, and like Jesse, he is not very high up on the trial roster. He probably won't go to trial this month.

These are the only RNC court dates remaining for this month.

Our friend Raphi is asking for court support for the Zombie 7 at the Federal Courts Building in St. Paul.

From the original e-mail:

Come support the Zombie 7 in St. Paul on the morning of Tuesday June 9th.

Where: Federal Courthouse, St. Paul,
316 North Robert Street (corner of Kellogg Avenue), 5th Floor.

When: 9am

The Zombie 7's lawsuit against the city, MPD, and Hennepin county was dismissed last year when a district court found that police had grounds to detain them on disorderly conduct, despite clear evidence that the 7 performers were completely orderly and compliant. This is the Zombies' appeal to have the case go back to court.

The Zombie 7 are a cohort of anticonsumerist street theatre
performers who were arrested in July 2006 off Nicollet Mall. Their homemade radio stereos, discovered only once thy were taken into custody, were even called mere "slick audio equipment" by the bomb squad. Despite this, the artists were were held over the weekend under a suspicious post 9/11 Minnesota state for "simulating weapons of mass destruction." However, because of community pressure, no charges were ever filed.

Background on the proceedings from the legal team:
The argument will be made before a panel of three judges. All three of them are Republican appointees. Here is a brief background FYI:
- Colloton was chosen by George W's administration, and has a rightwing background.
- John Gibson was appointed by Reagan, and is pretty moderate, actually more liberal than many judges appointed by Clinton (which still isn't saying much).
- Arlen Beam was also appointed by Reagan. He used to be one of the most righwing judges, but with George W's appointments, he is now towards the middle.

Next month, Dave Mahoney will be sentenced on July 9th at 1:30 PM.
(check out his story here: http://helpdavemahoney.blogspot.com/

Jesse Forrey will return to trial call. He will be asking for a "speedy trial."

A group of eight defendants from Vets for Peace go on trial before Judge Wilson for a misdemeanor trespassing charge. Monday July 20 at 9 AM. These were RNC-related arrests, since they went under the fence around the Xcel Center the day before Labor Day.

1. Don't forget Susan Gaertner's role in this...
RNC 8 protests Susan Gaertner

BY Karlee Weinmann
PUBLISHED: 12/02/2008

On Ramsey County Attorney Susan Gaertner’s birthday Tuesday evening, she held her first fundraiser for her 2010 gubernatorial bid.

Outside, the RNC 8 — a group prosecuted by Gaertner’s office for conspiracy to riot in furtherance of terrorism — and the Community RNC Arrestee Support Structure, formed in response to mass protester arrests at the Republican National Convention. They sang, danced and spoke against Gaertner’s campaign.
