Gingrich cheated on and then divorced his cancer ridden wife.
Then cheated again on his second wife during the Clinton impeachment proceedings.

But he has the balls to talk to us about God and morals.

Hilarious.

6. The so called liberal media would never air a word of Gingrich's past
They're too beholden to their corporate masters - who want to kiss Gingrich's ass and call it ice-fucking-cream - to upset that apple cart.

5. His wife took him to court twice due to his failure to pay child support
Her church stepped in to support her and Newt's two daughters while Newt stalled on paying his child support. When he failed to get tenure at West Georgia College, he decided on a career in politics. I've lived in Georgia 30 years and we know Newt. He's the King of Hypocrits.

8. He was screwing an aid, married her after he divorced his first wife,
the geometry teacher. He stated he does not remember discussing the divorce while she was hospitalized with cancer. (I bet SHE remembers.)
He was expelled from the Senate after he was investigated for using public funds for personal use. He has never acknowledged any guilt or shame over any of his own actions, and stated that he should not be called a hypocrite for railing against Clinton while committing similar acts himself because his position legally forced him to criticize Clinton.

He is a sociopathic little shit, and I believe he is testing the water for a presidential run in '12.
Many GOPers think he is just wonderful.

9. At Least John Edwards Didn't Dump Elizabeth
People talk about what a heel John Edwards is for cheating on his cancer stricken wife. And that was a scuzzy thing to do. For me, it ruined his appeal and I can't believe I once thought him sexy (ironic, no? I only found him attractive when I believed him monogamous). I was angry at him that he ran for President after this. Another reason it was selfish is because the more prominent he was, the more likely exposure of the affair could have torpedoed the Democratic Party's chances.

But, condemning Edwards as an utter jerk while allowing Gingrich to get away with what he did...

In some ways, what Edwards did is more painful. We can write off Gingrich as an utter jerk, a callous man with no regard for his wife's feelings or health. As for Bill Clinton screwing around, well, we always knew he was a bit of a dog, but charming nonetheless. If some one like Edwards who gives all outward appearance of loving his wife screws around, what does that say?

We always considered Gingrich a hypocritical jerk, so why should his philandering or callousness surprise us? When we find out creeps do something mean it really isn't news. Anyway, I would argue Gingrich did pay a price for his hypocrisy. You may remember that Gingrich left office in 1999 after the Republicans lost several seats in 1998 elections. It is only recently that he seems to have made a comeback. Maybe it isn't really a double standard, just an example of what short memories the American public has.

21. I, too, was taken in by Edwards. And I am really pissed about it.
But upon reflection I think I should have been more discriminating in my scrutiny of Edwards. There were little signs that should have alerted me to his narcisism such as that hair combing video.

I knew about Gingrich well in advance of Edwards. A LOT of people knew about the whole thing with his first wife and then the second wife and then his cheating on the second while screwing the aide and then going thru the divorce and marrying the aide...the whole 9 yards...

This was all in about 2000. Old news.

I agree tho, let's get the word out about Newt. I personally think he doesn't have a chance in 2012 because of it...

11. That's the wonderful thing about being in a party beholden to religious conservatives
As long as you worship their way, parrot their talking points, and believe in their version of God, you don't actually have to act like a decent human being because your soul is saved. If you get caught, you can lay low for a while, continue to sow your wild oats and get the crazy out of your system, and then when it's time to break back into politics, you can make a comeback while declaring that in your heart of hearts, God had personally spoken to and forgiven you. A few tears shed while in front of religious groups will show them that yes, the Devil tempted you and led you astray (it's ultimately not your fault), but now you're right with Jesus again, and you're going to lead the rest of America to Him.

However, if a liberal who actually understands and comprehends the compassion Jesus showed the downtrodden in the Bible goes to church, makes a Biblical reference, etc., it's all for show.

If he does something sordid, it's "in the past", or "a youthful indiscretion". Anyone who brings it up will be condemned as wallowing in gutter politics, and the week's discussion will be a series of conservative panelists trying to decide if criticizing Gingrich's moral hypocrisy is boorish, or actually evil.

17. According to bio of him in Vanity Fare from the 90s, he didn't pay alimony to #1
while she was dying. Her power was kept on by the good people in her church who paid the bill.

Newt should be shunned by any civilized person, no matter what spiritual path they follow. He is just plain vile.

imagine being in Gingrich's shoes for a moment (or any televangelist, radio huckster, or other similar con-man). You step out there and you spray the most ridiculously hypocritical line of bullshit imaginable, and the idiots *applaud*.

Every time he speaks and doesn't get a pie in his face, his belief that people are stupid sheep is validated.

even Newt has trouble remembering that one. Within days, he was saying "they said I didn't do anything wrong" which is only the OPPOSITE of what they said.

He should ALWAYS be referred to as "disgraced former Speaker Newt Gingrich".
