1. AM 1600 WWRL
In Manhattan and Brooklyn though it is very clear. It doesn't come through further out on the south shore of Staten Island though.

2. I did until a couple months ago.
Then it became our fourth or fifth local AM sports station. I'm still going through Stephanie Miller withdrawals. x(

8. I've been thru Steph withdrawal TWICE.
During the dark days of 2005 until the winter of 2006 we had a great lineup with Steph, Franken, Ed Schulz and Randi. The we got an ESPN station. In 2008 another station carried the two last hours of Steph (so I would miss Right Wing World). Then it was replaced by some horrible RWinger.

I am grateful to have had Steph when politically I was at my lowest ebb. Voice Deity Jim Ward had me laughing out loud constantly. His Drunky McPukeShoes falling off a bar stool never failed to cheer me up. He once did an impression of Berlusconi that nearly made me drive off the road on my way to work one day...

29. I can get them in the daytime
I'm on the fringe, but I can get them in my car during daylight hours if I crank up the volume a little.

Or I can just stream it via iTunes. :-)

7. Thank God for live streaming! I listen mostly to KPOJ, Oregon.
The only time I can't find anything is weekends. After 3PM there are a few programs, and the AM until 3 there's nada.

31. I guess they can make revenue by leasing out the station for sports and the medical programs
Btw, I'm going to miss David Sirota while he's away. I hope that if Jay returns they can find a weekday slot for Sirota. I wouldn't miss Mario since he's broadcasting from California anyway. Or let Jay take that afternoon time and give Sirota the morning spot.

:hi:

13. In columbus, we had it and they took it away twice
The first time is was Clear Channel that did it....changed it to right wing radio.

The next time the station was bought out by Catholic conservative radio...but the original station still transmits on the web.

Columbus OH...generally blue area, and we cannot get and keep a progressive radio station. Not because of the listeners, mind you, but the owners.

20. I think we're seeing a trend.
Here is a niche that needs to be taken advantage of. Now which one of us has the money to launch a nation-wide progressive/liberal talk station?? Or we can chip in and create WDU.

28. I'm willing to help you out
I can pick up radio stations (on a good day) in 2 markets (NY and Philly), and as far as I know neither has a good progressive station despite the electorate in each city.

We need to find the most liberal cities/metro areas without a progressive station (Washington DC also comes to mind) and infiltrate the airwaves. Shut Rush up :-)

22. To the best of my knowledge, we used to have a great progressive station here in northern AZ, but
it was ruined or vanished due to some circumstances.

We also had a real old-fashioned "Talk Radio" station that had both Democratic and Republican talk shows with LOCAL hosts (what a novel concept), and that was totally destroyed and is now a sports channel.

A.M. radio, which used to be one of the loves of my life, has been destroyed with a very few exceptions.

24. no ... Akron did host the flagship station of the Bill Press Show
and you know what's amusing now?

Allegedly "due to low ratings", WARF was switched from lib talk radio to sports talk radio ... and soon had ratings so low that they didn't even show in the ratings books ... of course, now another station (WJMP) is switching from ratings disaster sports talk radio to the oh-so-underrepresented-in-Akron/Cleveland/Canton CONSERVATIVE TALK RADIO ... gee ... you'd think that an area which is often described as "sickeningly liberal" would be full of "liberal" talk shows, right? naw ...

42. Depends on where in "my area" I happen to be.
Just like cell phone coverage.

We have a local community radio station which is very "progressive" for this area. I can pick it up a few miles south of my house, if I remember.
I don't spend much time on the radio.
