Randi is at it again re:Franken
It's not the first time she's implied some kind of insider knowledge that Congressional Dems "hate" Al Franken, and so have been no help to him in getting seated. Tonight, she said that likewise the Republicans have no use for Coleman because he's a "womanizer" and a "scandal waiting to happen" and that Dems dislike Al for MANY OF THE SAME REASONS! Does anyone know anything about this? I mean, besides Randi, who has super-secret insider knowledge? I mean, :wtf:??

23. Exactly!!
I got through most of one show. As unpleasant as I thought she was, I kept listening because I couldn't believe anyone so rude, so insulting, so ill-mannered, so opinionated, so unlikeable could be a radio host.

Yet, she has a rabid following.

Well, so does Rush Limbaugh.

There's no accounting for taste, I guess...............

26. She was always implying that she knew something the rest of us mere mortals did not know
and it was always something she just could not "share".

I've listened to her a since she came back (and after Ron Kuby left the 2-5 slot) and immediately remembered why I stopped listening to her before. Even her "interview" with Randall Terry a couple days ago only amounted to a coupld egomaniacs trying to shout each other down. (Thom Hartmann does that so much better just gives the right wing tool enough rope to hang himself).

28. the sad part is..
she has some very good moments. I listened to her for awhile on AAR driving home on 04. At first she was bearable because the majority of the show was decent. There were days that were horrible. A few years ago, around the time she fell, it became completely unbearable.

25. The OP asserted that she thinks Coleman
is the womanizer, not Al Franken.

Remember when Norm's eighty-something father was caught in a pizzeria parking lot in a car, having sex with some woman?

This is from the OP. What do you make of it?
"that Dems dislike Al for MANY OF THE SAME REASONS!"

Granted, it doesn't say Franken is a womanizer, but within the context of the post, it implies it. And just for the record, I have seen no evidence that he is. Also just for the record, I disliked him as a talk show host... and I dislike Randi even more.

Edited on Thu Jun-04-09 09:08 PM by The Velveteen Ocelot
She doesn't like Franken because of her experience with Air America Radio. While Coleman is known to be a womanizer, there has never been the slightest whiff of any such scandal regarding Franken. Here in MN we'd certainly have heard about it, since the Coleman campaign did its best to smear him any way they could during the campaign. But even Coleman didn't stoop as low as Randi.

5. Randi is a goober when it come to Franken. She thought she
was all that and a bag of chips when it came to the debut of Air America. It just chapped her butt cheeks when all the hoopla and fame went to Franken. Her ego was running wild and it did not serve her well.

I specifically got XM Radio because of Air America and Al Franken. Yes, he was sometimes exasperating, some of the skits weren't funny, he often when for the funny with guests instead of the information they could share but over all, IMHO, he was hands down ten times better than Randi. Her knickers are still twisted to this day.

11. I disagree. I stopped listening to her because she so often twisted facts.
With respect to Franken, her approach to him is clearly based on personal animosity arising from AAR disputes, since Al is a good solid Democrat and there's no rational reason for her constant attacks. And there has NEVER been even a hint that Franken has engaged in womanizing -- if there were even the slightest bit of gossip, the Coleman campaign, which was thoroughly sleazy, would have blasted it all over Minnesota. Even Coleman didn't make up the same kind of shit as Randi. She's disgraceful. Her ego is out of control.

If Franken is guilty of womanizing, a very serious charge, do you have any specific information to back it up?

Franken did something back at AAR that pissed her off and she's just not going to get over it. If we want to start baseless rumors let's just guess that she made a pass at Al and he rebuffed her.

I'm just relaying what I heard her say. It's up to Randi to provide specific information if she's going to make reckless accusations on the air. In the case of Franken, she never has. She just drops nasty hints. I've always defended Randi, even while gritting my teeth occasionally. But this seems pretty low rent.

10. Randi has always talked smack about Franken--because she personally
detests him--so this is nothing new. I'd appreciate it if she wouldn't talk trash about my Senator, but she won't. Her prerogative. And it's mine not to listen to her. Our Minnesota process has been played out under the letter of the law. The Coleman camp just has no class and has dragged this out, knowing they have no shot, to keep the 60th member of the dem caucus to be seated. Al and Frannie are, from everything I understand, a very loving and solid couple. I didn't hear what Randi said, but if she's implying that Al's a womanizer, she's really off the mark and making herself look foolish.

12. Hint.
The allegations she leveled at Coleman today are really about Franken. I wondered too for a long time, but I think Randi thinks that Franken has a girlfriend on the side. I know she always liked Franken's wife so all the dissing she has done I think come from there. Of course, I really don't know because I'm not her BFFE.

18. Could it just come from the fact that Al is sometimes flirtatious on-air
or on-camera? Some talk hosts are just like that when they do interviews (like Stephanie Miller) and I don't think it means anything at all.

This is so distressing, because I really like both Randi and Al.

19. She once said something about him being a really good kisser.
I have a feeling that maybe he likes to paw the girls a bit after a couple of drinks. Randi took umbrage most likely. I probably would too, except that I would really look at the circumstances and file it away as a crazy incident best forgotten.
On the other hand maybe she knows something concrete. I would hate to see his career ruined like what happened to John Edwards. Yeah I know we shouldn't accept that kind of behavior except that we might lose some competent leadership because of our puritanical ideals.

21. The Coleman campaign dug as hard as it could for dirt to throw at Franken.
If anything like that had ever actually happened the Coleman campaign or its RNC supporters would have used it. But here in MN there has never been the slightest suggestion of any such misbehavior by Franken. That's why I can guarantee that Randi is making it up.

24. I'm almost certain that whatever it is, it;'s in Randi's mind and it isn't true in fact
even if it's in her mind. She once said though in her old show that she could really give the Coleman campaign some information. Of course, we all jumped on her, asking her if she was crazy. All that would do is keep a Republican in that seat.

31. Anytime anyone posts a comment about Randi,
some irrational twit posts about how much they hate her because of some long-forgotten transgression she supposedly committed which offended the said twit's fragile sensibilities. (And most such criticism seems to consist of Karl Rove's talking points.)

Same thing happens with Olbermann, Michael Moore, Cindy Sheehan and several other powerful progressive voices voices - all of which America is better off with than without.

For fuck's sake! GIVE IT A REST! If you don't like it DON'T LISTEN TO IT! Most people here appreciate the contributions made by the few progressives the corporatocracy allows in the media.
