Scott Roeder: "They're Treating Me Like a Criminal"
The man charged in the slaying of Kansas late-term abortion provider George Tiller says he's "being treated as a criminal" even though he hasn't been convicted.

Scott Roeder called the Associated Press on Thursday from the Sedgwick County Jail and disputed characterizations in the media of him as being anti-government, saying he is "anti-corrupt government."

When asked by the AP to discuss the Tiller shooting, the 51-year-old Kansas City, Mo., man refused to comment, saying he would talk about that later.

now, who could have given him that idea?
Now, who has let him down?

42. Weeeel, one of his posts on OR sorta looked like he was trying to round up an audience
He did seem to want a friendly OR audience at Tiller's church. He probably did expect to be treated like a hero.

Delusions are dangerous things.

47. That is something I have been wondering about
How many OR groupies were there at the scene of the assassination? They regularly protested at Tiller's church. How many were there and what did they know about Tiller's plans?

Where did he get the gun? He was a felon. I don't think he could buy a gun under KS law.

Edited on Fri Jun-05-09 09:20 AM by havocmom
Wondering just how much help (beside getting him addresses) she may have been to his actions. That gun did come from somewhere and he couldn't have acquired it legally. He either stole it or an accomplice got it for/to him.

I would be much happier if they'd just put Scott in a cell they had to pipe air into with the only decorations on his cell walls being a list of fetal conditions incompatible with maternal survival--the things that can go wrong with a pregnancy that Dr. Tiller was concerned about.

But since his identity and the crime don't seem to be in dispute, I figure he might as well get used to it. The court isn't there to decide on whether shooting Tiller was a crime or not. I get the impression that this hasn't penetrated Roeder's intellect yet.

And yes, this guy needs to be locked up and have the key lost forever. But, just like your average terrorist actor, he's really not all that bright or stable, and was used and abused by people he trusted. This is why, Scott, so many terrorists are killed doing their thing, their leaders plan it that way, so no one has to think about the sad sacks involved. You can go out in a blaze of supposed glory, instead of rotting in a penitentiary. Yes, he's a murderer, but someone drove him to this, that's who should be rotting alongside him.

The nutbars in "Gawd's Fetus Army" likely don't see their terrorist hate actions as "criminal"; if it's performed in the name of Th' Lord, it's justified.

Personally, I think he should be dropped in a dungeon, starved and dehydrated, but that's just me.

57. Yep. He HAS been found guilty of a crime in the past
So, yeah, being treated like a criminal should not come as a surprise to him. That makes me feel the 'Freemen' connection is likely, at least in his thinking if not in his actual relationships. Those guys are not patriots but hoodlums trying to wrap their unwillingness to personally live by the laws of this nation in some bogus 'freedom fighter' garb. They want others to live by the laws, they want what protections the laws offer them, but they do not want to have any obligations under the implied social contracts of those same lies.

They are not the valiant patriots they imagine they are. They are bullies who go off screaming rationalizations when they get busted for their actions. They want all the protections with none of the responsibilities.

60. Well said.
If everyone acted the way they did, we'd have utter chaos in our society.

But your post reminded me of the tea party crowd and their aversion to paying taxes: they want all the benefits of civilization -- decent roads, education (maybe), utilities, police & fire protection, etc. -- but don't want the responsibility of paying for them.

I think of them as neoLibertarians, the far RW of the Republican Party or what's left of it anyway.
