Evan Bayh?
Edited on Thu Jun-04-09 06:23 PM by Tangerine LaBamba
I haven't paid any attention to him since he always struck me as that annoying little yapping dog who routinely attacks ankles.

But, listening to him just now on The Ed Show, I was struck by how stupid he is.

Has he always been this stupid?

He can't pronounce "nuclear". I really thought we were past that kind of, uh, tic......................

2. Evan's dad was a Democrat. Evan isn't.
And we never had to nominate someone that right wing to win that seat back.

Indiana is turning blue and the day of phony Dems like Ev is over.

9. Are you sure Indiana is turning that blue?
It was blue forty odd years ago, but I am not so sure about now. There are some oddly fundie and reactionary areas in that state. Dan Quayle is more the norm.

I think it went blue because of the urban areas, the college towns and the very hard work by Obama supporters. I have to give praise to the union men and women from Illinois who walked all over that state to GOTV. They worked their butts off in Iowa, too, but I think Iowa is a more naturally blue state. I am not so sure about Indiana. We will keep it only through sheer work. I live in a red area of a blue state, so I know how hard it is to gain anything and then hang onto it. Any seats we win in this district are always targeted so the republicans can take them back in the next election. We need to be careful not to rest on our laurels, in Indiana and everywhere else.

16. Lived there for 3 years
Only reason why it went Blue in my opinion is its proximity to Illinois. The Chicago suburbs and exburbs area of Indiana was very familiar with Obama because they get Chicago TV.

Plus I'm sure it was flooded with out of state volunteers from Michigan and Illinois who didn't have to worry about their states.

Unhealthy association for Bayh

EN ESPAÑOL

Editorial
Indianapolis Star
May 25, 2009

Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh’s vote could prove critical as Congress debates health-care reform later this year. Yet, Bayh has a clear personal interest in the financial stability of one of the key players in that debate — Indianapolis-based WellPoint, the nation’s largest commercial health insurer.

Bayh’s ties to WellPoint could hardly be more direct for a sitting senator. His wife, Susan, as a member of the company’s board of directors, earned compensation valued at $327,000 from WellPoint last year.

Both the senator and the insurance company deny that there’s a conflict of interest caused by Susan Bayh’s work as a director. A spokesman for the senator said that WellPoint is prohibited from communicating with Bayh’s office. Nor does Susan Bayh, according to the spokesman, discuss issues affecting WellPoint with her husband or his staff.

But WellPoint’s future — and thus a significant portion of the Bayhs’ income — could be at risk as the Obama administration and Congress attempt to reshape the nation’s health-care system.

Birch Bayh and Vance Hartke were my Senators when I was in high school and college - both were FAR better than Evan Bayh.

I thought it was suitably goofy-looking.

Although I was just subjected to Ron Christie in glasses on The Ed Show, and now I'm having physical pain ..................

if this is a post about the Senator of Indiana??

This is Evan Bayh:

Not trying to be a nit-picker, just confused, Tangerine as you are very politically astute and that guy in your OP doesn't look anything like him. Maybe I need glasses......

19. You know, you're right -
I got it via a google of Evan Bayh, but now, looking closely at it, it might be one of those photos that's legitimate, but looks NOTHING like the real person - I've seen pictures of myself that don't even look like me - or it might be someone else.

So, thanks to you, I'm gonna change it.

No, I'm gonna delete it.

Thanks................

7. We need to be very careful.....
Bayh is a D from Indiana. Indiana is a swing state that hangs mostly to the right. He is one of those "moderate" Ds that sometimes give us a run for our money. But on many issues he stands with us. We need to be a "big tent" party and allow for some differences. That said I am about ready to skin Baucus alive for his refusal to include single-payer in his hearings. He needs to go to a sagebrush farm in Montana and live with the prairie dogs.

10. I thought his comments on Our President's speech were fine.
I don't have a broader frame of reference with which to condemn him and I think it is more empowering for the People to take their elected representatives and sentors issue by issue.

I agreed with his points about accountability, so that Iran does not drag its feet until their nuclear arsenal is birthed.

agree with the Republicans on most issues.

If the tent is that big, then parties have no meaning, and (D) and (R) have no more meaning than "Shirts" and "Skins."
