MSNBC's continued embrace of Pat Buchanan

Given Pat Buchanan's history of clear bigotry - most recently demonstrated in his reminder last night that he supported and continues to defend a white supremacist - there really isn't any good reason for MSNBC to continue putting him on the air. The man is a bigot, plain and simple. In light of the hot water MSNBC has gotten into in the past for bigoted comments by its employees, you would think they would want to distance themselves from the likes Buchanan.

But what's really extraordinary is that MSNBC brings Buchanan on air to talk about race issues. It gives Pat Buchanan a platform from which to call other people racists. Granted, if there's someone who knows racists better than Pat Buchanan does, I can't think of who it would be. But his is not the kind of expertise MSNBC should be inflicting upon its viewers.

1. Buchanan is kinda like the embarrassing Uncle.
Sure no one really agrees with him and he says all sorts of stupid things, but he's harmless enough, right? :eyes:

2. I think he is the only "reputable pundit" who will get suited up and be on the air at 6 AM
Does he still write articles?

the more light is shed upon that mind set. they are very afraid of the future, say 2050 when white males will be the new minority.

7. The whole crew is TAINTED. Joe/intern. Mika/Daddy (a FOOL). Pat/NAZI.
Actually, Willy is the only one who might be CLEAR (except for his 2nd bananaism for Fucker CARLSON).

8. Buchanan is just more intellectually honest about his racism than most conservative pundits.
They need someone to articulate the other side's arguments; why not a cranky old Nixonian bigot? Nothing could better represent the right. A non-racist conservative is like a non-alcoholic beer. Sure you can drink it, but why?

9. Yes, you are right
He is a bigot, but you have to admit, when he goes on his rants, it makes all republicans look bad, and pretty much makes them all look like the bigots they are! Pat, Rush, Newt, Bill o, and the rest are making the republican party a thing of the past, and that has to be a good thing!

10. He's a good balance with Lawrence O'Donnell on Hardball.

At least you're hearing two sides of an issue. Unless someone just wants their own opinions reinforced, in which case a person on the right can go to Limbaugh and on the left can go to Olbermann, neither of whom will face guests whose opinions differ from their own. It's kind of a cowardly format, in my opinion. When you have opposing views, it draws them out and allows for an on the spot rebuttal. That's what happens with O'Donnell goes against Buchanan.
