Think about it. The religiously insane are watching their political arm (the repubican party) fall apart. They're watching the appointment of a supreme who is not likely to favor their cause. They are watching lower court appointments in this same mold. They are watching the climate in this country change to one far less sympathetic to them.

They needed a dramatic event. They needed a soldier willing to give his life to the cause.

Yesterday's event was the result. Just as surely as if he had strapped explosives to himself, walked into your hometown Mall, and pulled his trigger.

And if you think this has any basis in reality, then you also have to think that the organizations who support these views, and attract these people, and recruit these true believers, are terrorist organizations as truly as are any in the Middle East.

And they need to be stopped by all legal means possible.

1. No, he strikes me as more gutless than that
A suicide bomber is giving his own life to take out some of the perceived "enemy" in service of a greater cause; a common killer doesn't have that kind of (dare I say it?) empathy.

3. The idea was to be apprehended
and then plead not guilty by reason of justifiable homicide.

Watch.

4. Exactly
I'm sure there are right wing lawyers working on that defense as we speak. I'm sure they had people lined up before he did it.

They've been hoping for this type of case for years.

5. I'll bet Holder pre-empts it all
Pulls the guy out of the Kansas jail and charges him under the provisions of the USA Patriot Act.

7. Interesting legal theory
"And, Mr. Roeder, what imminent peril was there as your victim stood in the door of his church, greeting people and handing out the Sunday bulletin?"

He'll be found guilty, of course, and become a cult figure for the bloodthirsty rivulet.

2. Of course he is a terrorist and should be dealt with as harshly as any terrorist
but I don't believe he was willing to give his life for his cause. I think these douchebags are delusional enough to believe that they will be hailed as heroes in this life for their actions. I think they are under the impression that all Amurkins except a few librul traitors agree with their way of thinking.

But I could be wrong. Why not torture ths sumbitch and find out.

6. Well, if we're going to get to that level...
We need to round up his co-conspirators like Randall Terry and James Dobson and use enhanced interrogation techniques to establish the connection we seek.

8. Why be sarcastic? I think that torture is warranted to discover the backers and
supporters of this terrorist cell. There are many thousands (or more) of them out there and they need to be eliminated.

For once, do something positive with the powers that Bushie accumulated to himself.

9. Since I would like to gain useful information, legally, no.
Imprison them; isolate them for a few weeks. With nothing but flourescent lights down the hall and an occasional "here's your meal."

Guys like Dobson would spill the beans with just a modest bit of work, methinks. No need to torture.
