This is the perfect storm, right?
There's no way that the Republican Party, being what it is, can make it through this storm... Is there?

Women, Hispanics, the working poor, the arguably sane... They're all going to have to jump ship... Right?

One month? Two weeks? One week?

Batten down the hatches!

They only care about their ideology.

4. delusional people can be dangerous
Been warning about that for some time. Too many people just can't imagine how vile others can get.

9. "Too many people just can't imagine how vile others can get."
All one has to do is read the comment sections under newspapers in America. They attract vile people like flies, particularly freeper types- making it most unpleasant to attempt to have a rational conversation about what was written in the article.

5. The economy could be the wild card.
When people get uncomfortable, they get squirrelly.

A normal depression (which I believe is inevitable) will make them relatively crazy.

Couple that with a natural or manmade disaster (big hurricane, drought, relative collapse of the U.S. dollar, EMP event) and I could put a pumpkin on my head, claim to be the Gourd King, and carry a spoiler percentage of any vote.

It ain't looking good...

8. The moderate Republicans have jumped ship or are intimidated
There are plenty of moderate Republicans who either voted for Obama, or have a positive view of him, while having voted McCain.

The more extreme of the Republicans are simply allowed a lot more airtime and show their true colors, and of course make complete fools of themselves.

Instead of complaining not having enough airtime, they should complain having too much.

The more their ridiculousness is made obvious to the general public, the better.

Meanwhile, the man in the White House, keeps on making sense.

10. The Republicans and Democrats seem to be playing two completely different games.
I don't think what either one does directly have much effect on the other.

push so hard, so overtly to turn our country's government into something like a South American dictatorship. There are plenty of countries in Central and South America where a tiny (often ethnic) minority have total of the government. I think the GOP's real bosses have seen this coming for a very long time and wanted to rig the system completely, once and for all.

12. No.
And people who believe otherwise are ignorant of national politics.

If the GM situation implodes and we're entering the 2010 elections with 10%+ unemployment, the anger will be focused squarely on Democrats.
