3. Nice. Although I like Dave, I've always liked Leno too -- 'tho he's always been persona non grata

amongst the hipper-than-thou bicoastal elite who think they're worth their weight in arugula and way too "hip" for Jay.

4. Wow, that's a shock. I've always thought of Leno as closer to the right.

6. He probably is
But he's one of the "normal" ones if so. Some right, some left, you know the deal.

12. he did a long interview in 2004 and said that he was a Democrat
and he was supportive (and rightly so) of his writers during the strike.

5. That's way cool. Kudo's to Jay
I never liked Jay as the host of the Tonight Show. I always liked his stand up better and I think that Dave is funnier in that setup. That being said I never bought Jay as a Neocon. Glad to see he's standing up for his crew.

7. I detected some
stifled tears at the end there. He fidgeted with his chin and face a bit, sitting at his desk. Looked like he was trying to distract himself from really thinking about his good byes. It was a nice last show.

9. He may SAY he's a union shop, but that's not how the WGA saw him during the Writers' Strike.

13. You might want to reread that article. Obviously they DID see him as a union shop,
or they wouldn't have been giving him grief about breaking union rules. (Which, to be fair and objective had some valid points on both sides so I see his writing his own material as an issue prime for mooting about.) Whether he wrote his material in violation of union rules specifically presumes he is, in fact, a member of the union. 'Cuz the union rules jus' frickin' don't apply to people who aren't members.

If he'd not been a member, they might have denounced him as a scab, or an unsupportive turd or something. Of course, that didn't happen.

One final point to consider, he was a member then, albeit one with whom the union had some disagreements: He is a member now. So obviously the union and Mr. Leno have resolved their disagreements in the ways that reasonable people do.

15. True, but he crossed a picket line and that was what the dispute was about.
Tonight Show may be a union shop, but that doesn't mean Leno didn't fuck them over when it suited him.

10. I can't believe that CONAN is going to take his place.
Not only is he NOT funny, he's weird looking. Count me out.

11. Different strokes... Jay was good with animals but I thought his jokes were terrible. Conan is
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay funnier imho. And weird-looking? Maybe, but Jay is a bit odd himself.

14. I saw the show on Hulu this morning,
I've always been a fan of Leno and I will miss him on the tonight show. Conan's fun and I'll give him a shot. Leno's final show was a classy testament to a really great human being. I wish him well in his new endeavors.
