I hope it doesn't end up with a Photo Op Tomorrow at Arlington Cemetery with him "laying the wreath" as if it's for those old guys (like my Father-in-Law) who are dead and gone from memory.

Why isn't there non-stop weekend Coverage by the Cable Media about our TWO WARS! Where is Dick Cheney this weekend? Where are our Democratic and Republican Leaders?

If we are at "WAR" then why are the Cable Chatting Heads talking about "weather for the weekend BARBEQUE" as if this is just some "sports weekend to get together with one's Social Buddies and have a good time!

TRILLIONS for TWO WARS...and it's a BARBEQUE WEEKEND?

1. Keep this in mind -
Memorial Day used to be May 30, but it became far more convenient to move it around so that we could have a three-day weekend and enjoy all those great Memorial Day Sales!

Let's not even pretend that it has any meaning any more.

No one cares. It'll be the regular Arlington Cemetery photo op with Obama looking properly sincere and moved, and that will be that.

Then he'll give the order sending more troops to the Middle East - to die for no reason ...................................

3. Actually -- Memorial Day
is FOR those old guys (like your Father-in-Law) who are dead.

Are you aware about the history of Memorial Day?

It is NOT Veterans day. It is Memorial Day.

5. Good point .......
It's become militarized, but when I was a kid, we had a parade, and all the graves in the local cemeteries were tended and beflowered and remembered. All of them.

Good point. Thanks for reminding us ....................

and meeting with Rolling Thunder on Friday.

Is that not enough?

6. Doesn't whoever's president always show up?
BTW, the services are always deeply moving(especially moments like the readings that Charles Durning often does), but do they HAVE to have the over-the-top "service hymn medley" at the end? That part always sets my teeth on edge. Memorial Day should be about honoring the dead of past and present wars. It shouldn't be a pep rally to have more wars in the future.
