Earth's Enemies: GE, Monsanto and Obama's AG pick, Ignacia Moreno
by Rady Ananda

With Obama’s Dept. of Justice pick to head the Environment and Natural Resources Division, there can be little doubt the man of "hope" and "change" shills for the worst corporations on the planet. Not only has Obama chosen:

* Monsanto's Michael Taylor to captain the corporate takeover of our food supply;

* Iowa's Biotech Governor, Tom Vilsack, who promotes genetically modified organisms in our food supply, as Secretary of Agriculture;

But now he has nominated Ignacia Moreno, defender of environmental terrorist General Electric, as Assistant Attorney General.

How cozy to have Monsanto and GE lawyers working together! Now we can all eat frankenfood produced by corporations that poison the environment. Don't you love corporate-run government? ...

The federal government refuses to prosecute or even investigate war crimes. Why should we trust it would prosecute corporate crimes against the environment? Given her resume, instead of heading the Natural Resources division of the Attorney General's Office, Ignacia Moreno ought to be separated from society for the protection of all of us.

5. It hasn't anything to do with what he hasn't done, it's all about
what he has been doing and done so far in these 4 months.

BTW... I never asked him for a pony and when I pulled the lever it was just with a tiny inkling of hope that I was wrong about him. Unfortunately, so far, it seems IMHO, that I wasn't.

7. it must be something...
in the Gay-gene - we cut through the bullshit, probably because our whole lives we're treated with disgust and contempt as unworthy before God and we're tired of taking it (whatever The Man gives us little peons citizens) and we call out bullshit. I truly appreciate you posting this, I may not have ever seen it without your care of ALL of our citizens (and fellow DUers you are trying to awaken to reality) in getting the word out that this is sadly becoming business as usual in Washington. :(

It's as simple as this for me - if I became president - I would have convened a full review of torture immediately, and thrown the assholes in prison who ordered it and said, you know what? Life sucks sometimes, you may have liked the previous administration, but if I DIRECTLY ordered torture, regardless of WHAT I called it, I'd expect to be held to the laws of justice that I SWORE I'D DEFEND!

And then, to see these icky people be put up in positions of power disgusts me, along with DADT being allowed to continue when he could make one of those soaring speeches that are truly inspiring and say WHY America cannot continue treating GLBT as something shameful when these people help defend our country. It seems he has to involve the corporations in everything to please the 'right' and that's frustrating when we're so very much in power. Anyhow, we'll get flamed but I don't care, we're stating our beliefs that things are not going too well, there's been some really good things, but the biggest issues of the day, as we call them, are being marginalized to the least upsetting decision so to save the 'peace' and so we 'look forward'.... while there's not much to look forward to.

14. yes, it's starting to take on that "Nancy Reagan" feel to it where people ignore the caving in of
what we stand for, because we like the Obamas so much as people, and so the president's actions are justified with an uneasy smile and "well, he's got the degrees and you don't, we need to trust our president!"

I remember a young ingenue (LOL) who once said that very thing about a former president....

Well, heck, in that case, let's just put every corporate paid hack into some top level position in gov't - that always works out SO SO well for the people! Oh wait, it's happening!

18. lol... you just need to sit back and take it, because it was a great move is pretty much
what they're saying... oh, and that you're sooooo transparently 'anti-Obama' - funny, I thought it was called being a good citizen pointing out when things are not cool for the people, but hey, don't let that stop people from thinking we're against him. Sigh... I thought we got RID of the litmus test for being a good 'murikan when lil boots went back home to Texas? But, I forgot how many people out there have to own every collector's plate and spoon with his image upon it! Some are so sucked into the celebrity of our new intelligent and vibrant president (so night & day from the previous office holder, ha!) that they get offended you question ANYTHING he does.

17. I'm reminded of nothing less that the Wille Horton issue.
GE didn't hire Moreno because she's some sort of Snidley Whiplash who wants to put mercury in your children's breakfast cereal.

They hired her because she's one of the best environmental lawyers in the business.

And now she works for the Obama administration.

There's no intelligent reason why a defense attorney who's defended murderers and rapists shouldn't turn around and work for the Justice Department, and there's no intelligent reason an environmental lawyer who's defended corporations should do the same.

22. The mindless support, devoid of reason, boggles the mind.

So maybe Justice should rehire Gonzales to prosecute torturers.....oh wait.

Put the foxes in charge of the hen house, what genius.

25. And what, pray tell, is mindless about not wanting an industry hack

in a position of high importance in the very department they were fighting tooth and nail for their industry masters?

To think that the cat changes it's stripes is naive in the extreme.

You haven't a clue as to my motives.

26. It's mindless to assume that she's an industry hack.
Obama = Bush
Michelle Obama = Nancy Reagan
Ignacia Moreno = Alberto Gonzales

It's all mindless character assasination.

"To think that the cat changes it's stripes is naive in the extreme.

You haven't a clue as to my motives."

Not to mix metaphors, but I'm afraid the cat's out of the bag.
