Bumper sticker: "Bullshit Is The Epidemic That Could Kill Us All"
Edited on Fri May-22-09 09:06 AM by Cyrano
Today is the first time I've ever seen this bumper sticker. And I'm finding it a hard message to ignore. It's almost as profound as some imaginary bumper sticker that says "Nazis Are Dangerous To Your Health."

Either peddling or believing bullshit seems to be embedded in the human makeup. And what further proof is needed than the last eight years in which Cheney/Bush kicked up a massive storm of bullshit and a majority of people bought into it.

Bullshit (whether it's used to produce propaganda, lies, delusions, or distortions) can be harmless when used in a joking manner. Yet, as all of human history has demonstrated, it can be deadly when used by tyrants.

With all the worries over swine flu, perhaps it's bullshit we should fear the most.

1. I like it. Gets right to the core of the problem.

I know a few tight asses who would have a problem with a bumpersticker that has the word "bullshit" on it. And I bet there are a few states in this country where it would be illegal.

on edit: put it next to a Darwin fish and it takes on a whole new meaning.

2. Only some humans...some of us have developed an immunity,
Edited on Fri May-22-09 09:14 AM by Raksha
and I mean that almost literally. We have been exposed to so much media spin and b.s. and tortured logic in our lives, and seen through it so many times, that we are now immune to it. And we're very quick to recognize it and see through it every time we're exposed to it. This immunity on the part of a growing percentage of the population is something the Empire and its spinmeisters haven't taken into account yet.

Re Either peddling or believing bullshit seems to be embedded in the human makeup. And what further proof is needed than the last eight years in which Cheney/Bush et.al. kicked up one of the greatest bullshit storms in decades.

GREAT bumpersticker, BTW. I haven't seen that one yet.

4. agreed. in fact, I recently vowed to give up "bullshit"
I am not typically a bullshitter, but I have been prone to at least put up with it from people, and decided that this year would be the first of many where I don't put up with it; not from my family, not from the "opposition" and not from my friends. Just say no to bullshit.
