ABC News Exclusive: The Secret War Against Iran
http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007/04/abc_news_exclus.html

A Pakistani tribal militant group responsible for a series of deadly guerrilla raids inside Iran has been secretly encouraged and advised by American officials since 2005, U.S. and Pakistani intelligence sources tell ABC News.

The group, called Jundullah, is made up of members of the Baluchi tribe and operates out of the Baluchistan province in Pakistan, just across the border from Iran.

It has taken responsibility for the deaths and kidnappings of more than a dozen Iranian soldiers and officials.

U.S. officials say the U.S. relationship with Jundullah is arranged so that the U.S. provides no funding to the group, which would require an official presidential order or "finding" as well as congressional oversight.

1. Oh, god, more from the article
Pakistani government sources say the secret campaign against Iran by Jundullah was on the agenda when Vice President Dick Cheney met with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf in February.

snip

Some former CIA officers say the arrangement is reminiscent of how the U.S. government used proxy armies, funded by other countries including Saudi Arabia, to destabilize the government of Nicaragua in the 1980s.

This could be HUGH!!!11!!

2. Would the more learned please explain to me, if true, why such would not be state-sponsored
terrorist attacks? This administration's vernacular has me fuzzy-headed about terra for it seems terrorist acts are only what the other guy does.

5. Iran has dirty hands here - they really do.
We have this problem in our country - Because B*sh mixed truth and crap - we assume it is all crap.

That is american - that is why he is such an idiot. He never really understood the culture.

Doesn't change the truth - the real truth.

Our birth right assumes we have the ability to cut thru the crap.

We caught some of those people trying to infiltrate two years (more) ago our positions. They are bastards. Their finageling killed some of our kids - it did.

We don't need a war with them - we just have to recognize what is really going on and let the crap flow thru our ears. The day they have to deal with us - they are screwed. B*sh just made a mess of that truth.

IMO,

Joe

8. Guess where the Sunni Baluchis live, who their nearest neighbors and allies are?
That's right, the deserts south of Kandahar. The Taliban and Pashtun tribes that are harboring OSAMA BIN LADEN. We are now funding the next door neighbors of the Waziri and Pashtun tribes that are harboring the world's most famous former CIA asset.

11. Someone posted a link to a more recent PNAC "remaking the Mideast" map
Edited on Tue Apr-03-07 07:57 PM by Leopolds Ghost
Anyone have a link?

Yes, the neocons regard the Taliban (religious fundamentalist Al Qaeda
supporters) as, at most, "best enemies", and at worst, natural allies.
No wonder they attacked us on 9-11 and got away with it.

On Edit: The Baluchis in southern Afghanistan (the desert portion)
are part of the Taliban coalition!!!! You know, fighting against us!

17. I knew it wasn't Bernie's, but I can't find a new map by him.

The poster was asking for a recent PNAC Map and the only one I could think of was this one.

Are there others or newer ones out there?

from Iraq went?

But that was five years ago, when the US airlifted pallets of shrink-wrapped bricks of 100s to Baghdad.

Last I heard, they were unaccounted for.

16. The Contras had no official funding either, did they?
Slightly ironic that it really came from selling Iran arms. You're right, some of those billions that went missing in Iraq probably did end up in 'deniable' US government projects.
