The world, America included, has become such a kaleidoscope of good/bad, right/wrong, kindness/evil, that only Popes, Imams, Rabbis, or Shangri La gurus would ever raise the question of right or wrong.
But if you think about it, how many people apply the ultimate measurement of decency? Try this for an answer. -- Decent people don’t torture others.
And there it is. That is the crux of decency.
Our country will never be cleansed until those who authorized, justified and still defend torture are denounced, condemned, vilified and made to answer for their crimes.
And if you need more clarification, ask yourself this. What can we do to bring those who who ordered and sanctioned torture to justice?
And if this sounds self-righteous or preachy to you, try living in a country where any sense of decency doesn't exist.
(I was going to post a list of such countries, past and present. But is that really necessary for any sentient human being who is aware of the horrors that have and are still taking place on planet Earth?)
