Nova broadcast propaganda for NSA
Edited on Tue May-19-09 07:56 PM by soryang
Rationalizing why NSA and Bush/Cheney had to begin eavesdropping without warrants because of 911. If you listen carefully to FBI Rossini's statements there was no reason why Al Hazmi, Al Midar and company should have received visas at Jeddah, or why the FBI wasn't alerted by the CIA to their movement to the US, nor by the Terrorism task force. Nor why NSA didn't respond to FBI requests for transcriptions of their conversations with Yemen being monitored by the NSA the entire time.

This is the old Kean Commission white wash plus a rationalization for doing away with the Fourth Amendments. It's total BS.

This is all meant to justify the secrets privilege and the outrageous government defense in In re: NSA telecommunications records litigation.

The broadcast was called the Spy Factory.

8. I was hoping to see Rep. Marcy Kaptur's counterproposal to close banks
and "recapitalize" them. I think that was the right term.

I recall one of her speeches in Congress saying that America could do what was done in the 1980s after that Savings and Loan crisis. I don't know the details. However, banks are unique corporations in that the government has the authority to close them.

9. Thank you, I wasn't sure which show you were talking about.
Just an FYI, there are a few of us who watch American Experience on Monday and Frontline on Tuesdays; I wasn't sure if your post was part of that!

Welcome to DU.

7. Bamford had the last word
"Why did the NSA fail to act or pass on information that could have warned of 9/11? Why didn't it share information with the CIA and FBI that could possibly have stopped the plot?

As for the question of whether we are any safer now than we were before, we should have been safe the way it was. NSA had all the information that it needed to stop the hijackers, and it already had laws that allowed it to track them."

It must have been in his contract because the show definitely was a rationalization for inexplicable NSA actions.
