Does Cheney have some 'dirt' on Obama that none of us know about?
Obama is suddenly supporting all the secrecy of the Bush years and ignoring their crimes.
He's also been reversing previous decisions about releasing torture pictures and info.
And Cheney is suddenly out in front of the public touting all his old policies.

Is it reasonable that Obama feels that ignoring crimes of the past and preventing the transparency he was so supportive of until recently is best for the future of the country?

Or is there another explanation?

Could Cheney's secret wiretaps have exposed some hidden skeleton in Obama's closet that no one
else knows about?

It's beginning to sound like Obama might be under Cheney's thumb, a terrifying thought.

All this is beginning to make me suspicious.

2. Um, no. There is a reason that Obama won, and it's not because BFF has dirt on him...

6. If 'I' was secretly wiretapping Congress
I can think of no one I'd want to tap more than a Senator from the opposing party running for President.

21. And if Obama didn't know
That he may be tapped by then, then had no business being in the Senate. Even we here knew about the wiretapping years ago.

Defending himself. Right?

9. I think it's the other way around
I think Obama has something on Cheney and Cheney knows it. That's why Cheney is doing so many interviews and having his daughter shill for him. Do you really think Cheney would be doing so much talking if he didn't feel scared?

22. There is probably a Grand Jury investigating Dick Cheney
Cheney is more than likely trying to get evidence made public to protect himself from the Grand Jury.

Releasing the torture memos? Stripping down military tribunals from 600 to 20? Banning torture by executive order?

14. No, what the President has is, wait for it, delay that gratification.....
...an almost unheard amount of patience and discipline.

Which given DU is so goddamn rare it's almost a super power.

15. I don't think dirt has dirt on Obama.
Maybe I am wrong but I don't agree with you. I think it's the other way around. Obama is such a calculating politician (and an honestly moral one) that I don't think Obama would've ran for the highest office in the land if someone had "dirt" on him.

16. The USA is 100% dependent on Empire...
Didn't use to be, but we are now.

Without the Empire, we are a basket-case debtor nation in need of IMF restructuring.

18. Who does our military work for?
certainly not the people of this country. Has it been co-opted by some cabal of industry titans? It is one issue that is never discussed with any kind of truth. Even those that speak out talk about 'nation building'. Is that code for something? I don't understand how something that effects every possible issue facing society can be so verboten.

23. Want to know why there's so many "wild conspiracy theories"?
We're divorced from reality. The difference between the stated reasons for war and the on-the-ground truth is so stark everyone is fishing about for some explanation.

The best one-hour talk on this I know is Nafeez Ahmed's ˜Creating terror"

I agree about the conspiracy theories. When there is no truth, everything is possible. I often go to third world traveler, and read articles there to gain some perspective, but still.. what can you believe?

17. Obama's style has ALWAYS been to let someone else be the bad guy.
Edited on Tue May-19-09 05:41 PM by SmileyRose
Let the impartial judiciary or Congress be the bad guys.

Cheney is going down no matter what - we don't really need Obama's handprints on the rope.
