Gates: ‘I wished I hadn’t said’ that Obama was more analytical than Bush
— but I'll just say it again . . .

from Think Progress: http://thinkprogress.org/2009/05/18/gates-obama-bush-comparison/

IN March, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said that President Obama is “somewhat more analytical” than President Bush. In an interview with Katie Couric for “60 Minutes,” Gates said, “That’s something I wish I hadn’t said.” But when asked to describe the two presidents, he seemed to reaffirm the dichotomy, again suggesting that Obama is more analytical than Bush:

COURIC: What three words would you use to describe President Bush?

GATES: Committed, questioning, eager to make a decision and move on.

COURIC: What about President Obama?

GATES: Deliberative, decisive and calm.

1. It's odd that he would attempt to retract his statement. It was obviously accurate.
Anyone with a pulse can see that Obama is more analytical than Bush was.

3. More analytical than Bush, yes. Let's hope he applies...

his analytical skills and concludes that the easiest way to get re-elected is to prod Congress to pass the kind
of progressive legislation that the American voter wants: peace, single-payer medical care, end of the war on drugs,
out of Iraq/Afghanistan, no war in Pakistan or Iran, increase in COLA for SS recipients etc.

5. Wouldn't make a difference.
He seems to have climbed inside a bottle since he left the WH. I just wish Cheney would go back to his bunker.

7. Obama should have hired a Democrat. Instead he has someone who doesn't believe in him. (nt)
