1. I'm sure what they attempt this time around will make Harry and Louise look like Dick and Jane
What absolutely kills me the most in this whole debate is when people say "Oh noes! Health care will be rationed and I will have no say in my treatment.

HEALTHCARE IS ALREADY RATIONED AND YOU ALREADY HAVE NO SAY IN YOUR TREATMENT.

Do I want government making my healthcare decisions? No, I would far prefer that those decisions be left to a for-profit industry that benefits if they deny me treatment so that they can abscond with all the money for themselves. United Healthcare paid their former top CEO 1 BILLION dollars in salary, bonuses and stock options - how much denied treatment do you think that would have covered? No, by all means let's keep this God awful system in place.

Or, would I prefer government oversight and containment of costs and the CHANCE that I might not die homeless and bankrupt due to the lack of accessible healthcare LIKE EVERY OTHER FRIGGING MAJOR NATION?

2. That's the question alright. Your odds for survival are better with Uncle Sam.
And that's a VERY good way to frame it when talking to the semi-comatose public.

3. The other talking point is about government interference in the "doctor-patient" relationship.
Of course, there is no such thing as a doctor-patient relationship. It's a doctor-health care provider-patient relationship. The health care provider is right there in the middle of that relationship, dictating what will and will not be paid for, which procedures will be performed, etc. Not really the ideal situation.

Oh, and then there are the MILLIONS of Americans who have NO HEALTH CARE whatsoever. There is no doctor-patient relationship. For them, anything would be an improvement over what they currently have.

5. My mother had Medicare and TriCare for life. No authorizations from
the insurance provider, no begging hat in hand, no permission to ask, no big bills for procedures not covered, no fighting, no form filling, no resubmitting.

Now, why would I not want that?

15. 'Cause then you'd be a SOCIALIST. Do you want that?
It's a sure ticket to HELL. Maybe even bestiality and all that other crap Republicons fantasize and obsess about whenever they touch themselves and think about Teh Gay.

4. WaPo had an article today about him too.
<snip> The campaign is being coordinated by CRC Public Relations, the group that masterminded the "Swift boat" attacks against 2004 Democratic presidential candidate John F. Kerry, and is inspired by the "Harry and Louise" ads that helped torpedo health-care reform during the Clinton administration.

9. I wonder if anyone will run showing American Care under
Rick Scott.

Scott downsized nursing staffs, created conditions where “babies were attended as infrequently as every three hours. Once, the only nurse caring for seven ill infants was so busy she failed to hear an alarm when a baby stopped breathing. A parent dashed to the baby and stimulated breathing, the state report said.”

12. Babies? I think Rick Scott would prefer the term "consumers."
Babies are a little tougher to fit into a bottom-line business model.

The article also mentions how Scott's hospitals would refer to diseases as "product lines."

Profit trumps all with these people and with the right terminology it all seems justified to them.

10. Which is comparing apples and oranges.
We want single-payer health insurance like Canada, not nationalized health care where the doctors are governmental employees.

14. Not without our help. TeeVee will not risk losing his ad revenue.
We are going to have to counteract, person to person.
